One update on North Temple. The process of moving the power lines under ground is complete. The overhead lines are gone and the wood poles are starting to come down.

The New apollo burger building just off of north temple on redwood road is almost done. It looks like they are trying to update their image. They have a new style of sign and everything... looks nice. I wonder what will become of the old apollo burger building. They should just rip it down and keep it open for redevelopment.

This forum could last for decades, but I'm all for it. WTH, let's give it a shot, see if enough starts to happen to make it work.

Oh PLEASE NO! That would be a horrible waste of space for that location.

The original Biomat building plan had the old Biomat building being demolished, and having a parking lot put on the corner there. The planning commission did not allow that to happen. They went back to the drawing board and came up with the current design--which is much better than the original. There is not a plan in place for the building, though I know there is interest within the community to keep the building, and re-use it. The new Biomat building was brought up in the North Temple Development Conference yesterday.

The old Biomat was originally built in 1912-13 and was a local market, later it housed a Salt Lake City Library branch. I think it could be a great space for some local restaurants or art gallery--or both, it is a pretty big space.

I am glad to hear that the Planning Commission said no to the parking lot. I think I mentioned this before, but it would be a cool place to "Recreate" Port O Call. It has a similar look to the Shubrick, just smaller. I would love to take a look at the place, once it is on the market, or before, if anyone has connections.

Good to here. I can picture some shops or even a place to eat in the bottom of that building.

It does need some work though... Although, the plywood covering the windows on the top floor is a nice touch

I just took a drive of north temple. I will post some photos after I eat my lunch.

I'm not on North Temple all that often, but the other day I finally drove on it and was kind of disappointed that TRAX doesn't run down the middle of the viaduct. It makes it seem asymmetrical.

Someone with know-how should bring over the new Fair Ground renderings for this thread.

When I originally posted this thread... I posted them in the first post... I did give credit to the person who posted them about 4 times.... But they ended up deleting the whole thread... I'm not sure if that's why... But it's the only reason I could come up with... So I though I had beter not do that again.

I agree that it would have looked better.... However it would have added the need for a stoplight at the top of the over pass.

I am guessing the original thread was deleted because a moderator thought that we didn't need another thread to discuss development on North Temple since it is part of Salt Lake City, and could be discussed in the Salt Lake Development Thread. I tend to agree with that view.

It's just as valid of a thread as The CCC or u of u thread... In fact now that CCC is done north temple is the biggest ongoing project in salt lake.

I feel the same way, but I'm not worried about it because I don't think there's going to be enough development in the near future to warrant this thread and it'll just wither and die (figuratively by dropping to the bottom of the list of threads).

Not if I post regular photo update... Well maybe after trax is done.. But I wouldn't be surprised if there are other projects underway by then.

Thanks for the picture update of North Temple! This is gonna be one of my new favorite threads now that CCC is completed. Is it just me or does everyone else notice that the Luminaires (Light fixtures attached to the green traffic poles) are hideous!!! The green traffic lights were nice looking, aesthetically pleasing, now they look ugly! Who's idea was it to add them to the traffic signals!!

Hmmm... I see what you mean. The semaphores do look better without the luminaires. I wish they were at least integrated better, but I don't totally hate it.
