Pressed in Paris

After a brief hiatus, the Euro tour is back. Set number 8, highlighting the city of lights, Paris, France. For those who may have missed previous installments you can see them here: Norway, Netherlands, Spain, South England, London, Edinburgh, Iceland

I arrived from Paris after landing in London from Iceland and catching the Eurostar under the Channel. Other than Berlin, Paris was one of the last remaining Major European cities that I had not seen. I was there during the heart of tourist season which meant long lines and extra rude waiters. There was so much to see I felt constrained even though I had four full days in the city. While I usually try to avoid shots of other tourists, it was simply unavoidable as there were so many. However, finding unique and intriguing shots of other travelers was harder than I imagined so I tried to get a little creative. Given it was my first time in the city I hit a lot of the famous sites and less back alleys and hoods. A shout out to paradox21, I read his London-Paris thread before I left and was able to get some night shots from the top of Montparnasse and the Arc De Triomphe. Pressed for time in the most pressed and dressed up city in the world, feeling the pressure from the suffocating hordes. I think that covers the title. This is a heavy thread so on with it.

A bit softer with the music this time.

Great shots of Paris. By the way, which one is it? Paris, Teaxas or the one in Ontario?

Coeur de Pirate, a little local diva from Montreal, right on!

I remember after visiting the Louvre, my wife and I decided to wander around the nearby streets. We got lost and tried to hail a cab but for some reason they weren't picking up anyone. We walked and walked aimlessly for hours until dusk. Finally some random cab decided to stop. He was in a mad hurry so he sped throughout Paris passing by famous landmarks here and there, almost hitting some pedestrians and scooters along the way. It was like a dream seeing the Arc, the Concord, Eiffel, Sacre Couer through the cabbies' eyes. He didn't care. To me it was incredible!

I tipped him a couple extra Euros for the experience.

This makes me envious. I wish I had a decent camera and some upscale lenses and knew how to use them.

The Caulaincourt street of which a segment strangely runs on the graves of the Montmartre cemetery.

Of course, you wouldn't go by night and you'd be careful about your equipment if you ever wandered around there, even during the day. Be careful in Paris anyways. You sometimes have to face rude behaviors over here indeed, but it's worth that.

These are fantastic pics, BTW. I LOVE Paris, I just wish there were a few less billion tourists whenever I'm there! Still probably my favorite place to visit, and I never have a bad meal.
