Such a thing obviously can't safely be done.

I'm rating this one as Not Happening/10, especially the part about it rising in 6 months. The foundations alone would take at least 6 months to construct and a year or so is much more likely.

I really would not want to be anywhere near such a tall tower constructed that hastily because one big quake will almost certainly knock this thing down and cause incalculable damage to the city and tens of thousands of lost lives at the very least, possibly more depending if the tower is occupied at the time of the quake. Hell, this tower will weigh so much it might even trigger an earthquake.

Here's another picture of the model.

The tower has a cruciform cross section with a buttressed core, similar to the Burj Khaliffa.

If the model is crooked, then so is the window in the background. it's just distortion from the camera lens.

If it can be built safely and on this timetable then this will change the world.

It's an enormous, enormous, 847m IF. I really doubt it can be built cheaply, quickly, and safely but if it is all pre-fab and they aren't counting foundation work into the construction timeline (I'm guessing they aren't) then I suppose it's at least possible.

^'This random city' has a population of 7 million, and is the capital of the Hunan province, according to wiki. It's several hours south of Wuhan, which is also undergoing intense development.
