Not that I give a flying turd about the L.A. Kings, nor did I care if they won the Stanley Cup or not, but I thought it would be interesting to go to the area around Staples Center on Monday to see the crowd turnout. I took some pics.
The little girl was selling candy.
Huge police presence there. Huge moto cop on the right.
Many people were just standing on the sidewalks watching the Kings game on the TVs inside the restaurants and bars.
I thought this guy had a Burger King crown on his head.
Another kid was selling candy.
This guy with the megaphone kept shouting "Repent! Repent!" over and over again. Repent from what? What an asshole. My partner went up to him and yelled "Go to hell!" and the guy walked to another corner.
Sporting events always bring out all KINDA people.
For a while now, I've noticed that the LAPD likes to video crowds during events like these and at protests.
This lesbian cop was really antagonizing that guy. I was waiting for a huge fracas to ensue.
The guy ended up backing down and walking back towards his friends.
Here it looks like she's saying to her colleague, "what the FUCK was that??!?"
Kind of a subdued crowd here at this restaurant.
Cops started telling people to move off the street, including my partner and me, even though it was closed to traffic.
I think at this point, the Kings won.
I thought this was funny, because these cops all started adjusting their helmets at the same time. They probably had someone in their earpieces telling them to do so.
At this point we thought the crowd was getting rowdier, so we decided to slowly walk out of the area.
I thought it was funny that amidst the hoopla, this kid was sitting and meditating. He had his eyes shut, but he opened them just as I decided to take his picture.
The blonde in the middle was all to her friend, "yeah, take my picture."
My partner and I kept walking away from Staples Center, northwards toward Bunker Hill, and we ended up at the McCormick & Schmick's at the base of the US Bank tower and we had Happy Hour.
