Or is it?

You have a nice camera. The shots are clear and it looked like you had great weather.

You know, I get that this was a Sunday, but there are at least 5,300 residents in the immediate core and you'd never know it, at times. You'd think you'd see more of them - and even some of the tourists in all of the hotels - just out for a walk around the CBD even if there isn't anything to do on a Sunday.

I'm happy that the riverfront seems to have become a major new activity spot, though. It's surpassed my expectations.

Downtown Detroit is looking great. These photos prove that Detroit is still a major player.

It also doesn't hurt to tinker with the saturation and contrast a little bit.

The thing I thought was the problem is that there's no retail! All there is downtown are places to eat (which isn't bad but there's no where for people to shop). I think once some non-restaurant stores start to open up, you'll see more people around.

I always love different peoples' perspectives on our city! Thanks, great photos.

I'm also always happy to see any Detroit thread that shows the positives and not the ruin porn. Like we need more of that.

I look forward to the Midtown shots, my neighborhood!!

This was a Sunday. Downtown can actually get quite busy on weekdays. It's improved a lot in the past 2-3 years. I live in Detroit and even I was surprised how empty it is on here. I've seen the downtowns of Pittsburgh, Dallas, Baltimore, Cincy, etc. just as empty on Sundays.

I need to get back to Detroit. You guys treated me better than I've ever been treated visiting a city, I could almost cry thinking about it.

I don't know if you saw my Oklahoma/Texas thread from March but Dallas is definitely just as empty as Detroit in the CBD on Sundays.

Some left over pictures that I didn't want to overload into the first post. (though I feel like I over loaded it anyway)

Also some others from the RiverWalk but from a different day. It's definitely turning out to be the focal point of the downtown area.

LOL It's not quite a turd...

...but it's a bird...

Which in some ways are just basically flying turds when you really think about it.

I happen to take a picture of one because I was really the only person around that was visible but the birds would still fly from across the street and land next to me expecting food. So with no people to take a picture of, I took a picture of this dude.

I really love the fountain that GM put in on its own little section of the riverfront, it definitely has become a focal point especially with all these 90+ degree days we've had. Lookin forward to round 2 bring on midtown!
