That was the Moirs Chocolate factory.

Maybe I'll make an annotated version sometime. There are a lot of interesting details. If you look closely near the foot of Sackville Street for example you can see one of the archways that used to exist along the waterfront. I believe there was also a stone one around what is now the Historic Properties area.

A couple of other landmark buildings that are now gone are the Custom House at the foot of George Street and the city market building on Market Street. The building at the corner of Hollis and George was the Victorian-era Royal Bank HQ. You can also see the "pentagon" building at the end of Granville Street.

I love looking at old skyline shots before most of the old buildings were torn down to make taller ones or parking lots.

lol it's missing a couple notable additions: 201 portage and the mb hydro tower, plus the u of w's recent upgrades, etc

but you're not too far off in not noticing a substantial change..

Looking at this picture, makes me wonder if our skylines actually got better with all the highrises.

Toronto looks like Quebec City with the Royal York and Commerce Court Towers rising from the lake.
