San Francisco Great Photography spots

Hey all,
I'll be visiting SF in 2 weeks with my sister from Los Angeles. I've been to SF a couple times already in the past decade, but I really want to get some great pictures.

In fact, I'm so determined to get good pics, I'm renting expensive professional equipment I could never afford to buy.

What I'm looking for is great vantage points around the city. I'm not necessarily looking for skyline shots from a distance, though you can suggest them. Rather, just great urban viewsheds within the city. What would be extra helpful is also listing time of day of when to capture them.

I really would appreciate. Here's a couple links to some of my photo threads in my own city with my own equipment that may give you an idea of what I'm interested in.

Hey Hayward

I'm in the same situation such as yourself, except that it's now March 2013, I'm coming from that other Great Lakes city, and I'll be travelling to San Francisco in early april. I've been looking extensively at the city via google maps, and a few places seem to stand out in terms of photographic potential:
1. Lombard St and Hyde St: looks like a really nice place for urban vistas, although it seems like it's been photographed to death
2. The Presidio, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge
3. The Twin Peaks neighbourhood
4. The San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge, for the views of downtown

I'm curious what you found to be good photography spots when you went. Also, just as a bonus, what areas did you visit, and which areas would you recommend? Cheers

Get in touch with Western Gulf, perhaps if he has the time he can give you a great tour, and some spots in the city/bay area that the average visitor wouldn't know about. You certainly would need a car to see some of these areas.
