Is your city loved or hated?

I ran across a site on the internet that uses Twitter and Facebook comments to determine how much something, someone or some place is loved or hated. Here's how the Canadian cities are loved. Not much of surprise that Toronto and Vancouver are tops. Fort Mcmuuray and Brampton are at the bottom. I left out London, Victoria, Windsor and Regina, as most of the stats are geared to Victoria's secret, London England, Regina Spektor (singer) and Windsor castle

http://amplicate.com/

Toronto 80%
Vancouver 78%
Montreal 77%
Calgary 73%
Saskatoon 71%
Halifax 70%
Moncton 62%
Ottawa 57%
Hamilton 54%

Winnipeg 46%
Edmonton 44%
Mississauga 36%
Brampton 24%
Fort McMurray 20%

They don't have St. John's. But Newfoundland gets 85%.

Fort McMurray only has 5 votes in total! 1 love and 4 hate.....not exactly the most reading accurate ever.

Why don't we turn this thread into "Other Canadians' perception of your city"? I always love the shitstorms that follow

75% I talk to love Edmonton!!! The other 25% are not happy with themselves

Fort mac...definitely is the arm pit of Canada for quality of life IMO. BUT....that being said...this town and region is one of the biggest financial generating engines in Canada. Which in turn drives alot of our incomes which also makes me fortunate to be involved with Fort Mac!

Muhaha for Hamilton it's Hamilton, NEW ZEALAND! lol Yet it has Hamilton's logo.

http://amplicate.com/love/hamilton
Hamilton is the centre of New Zealand's fourth largest urban area, and Hamilton City is the country's fourth largest territorial

I know that the stats aren't 100% scientific, but ouch for Brampton and Mississauga! I was going to say the same for Fort Mac, but only 5 votes for that city.

Looking through the hate votes against Calgary, I find most are tweets against the Calgary Flames.

A little more scientific, I suppose...

From the report: Canadians are Happy and Getting Happier: An overview of Life Satisfaction in Canada, 2003 -2011.

Canadian provinces and territories ranked by happiness:

10. Yukon
9. Manitoba
8. Alberta
7. Prince Edward Island
6. Northwest Territories
5. New Brunswick
4. Saskatchewan
3. Newfoundland and Labrador
2. Quebec
1. Nova Scotia

Hamilton definitely won't be accurate, as the name is quite common. I see many of tweets are for other places or people with the name Hamilton.

I read through that one too. I don't it's any more scientific than the amplicate one to be honest. It mentions using happiness statistics from 2003-2011. What the heck is a happiness stat? Also they mention that Yukon was tops in 2011 and suddenly dropped to 10th place in 2012.

Oh c'mon now. There is only one Toronto, one Calgary, and one Montreal . Vancouver might really be Vancouver Washington, it's hard to say.

Toronto would probably be at 100% if it wasn't for Allan83.
