Question What's your favourite intersection?

What's your favourite intersection? It can be from your city, or any. Also, please share a picture or video of it with us.

Downtown St. John's doesn't have a lot of big intersections. The streets are simply too old and narrow. But what we do have are a lot of intersections where many streets come together. Some of them, like Rawlin's Cross, are locally famous.

My favourite is the intersection of... well, I don't remember the names of all these streets. So I'll just say it's the intersection of Church Hill, Cathedral Street, and Queen Street.

Great idea for a thread.

Mine is King & Yonge in Toronto. I don't have any photos or video, but if you just go take a quick look around on Google Street View, I think you'll understand why I think it feels so representative of the city, both old and new.

Ya I walk through King and Yonge everyday on the way to work and it's quite spectacular. It's one of the only places in Canada where you can look in all directions and see tall pre-war high rises like in New York or Chicago.

Montréal has many, but one that always takes my breath away is St Jacques and Place d'Armes

I have a feeling that R-L and de la Montagne will be one of my favourite intersections in the next 5 years or so.

I'm a fan of king and Spadina, from this vantage point you're surrounded by deco and turn of the century warehouse buildings. You also get a good view of the modern towers sprouting up around it.

I like the intersection of McGill Street and St. Jacques Street at Victoria Square.

I also really like the intersection of University Street and Milton Street next to McGill University.

In Edmonton: 51st Ave and Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard. So pedestrian friendly, it makes your heart bleed.

Okay, enough with the sarcasm. Um. . . I don't really have one.

There are a lot of choices in Toronto but I'd have to say my favourite is Bloor Street and Queens Park/Avenue Road.

If you look around you get the ROM with both the old and new, the Park Plaza Hotel, the cool effect with the Four Seasons wrapping around the Church of the Redeemer, the Lillian Massey Building and Queens Park looking south. You can also get a very decent view of the CBD and the CN Tower looking south from the intersection and a look down the Bloor canyon to the east.

Google Map King Road at Yonge Street. That's where Google Maps sent me at first and I thought... he's that excited about a suburban Harvey's Restaurant?

Found the one you meant. Looks great. I love the density. When the skyscrapers are that densely packed, their individual beauty matters far less and the whole thing just looks nice.

Another favourite of mine. The intersection of Water Street, George Street, and Beck's Cove.

You can see Scotia Plaza, one of the older yet nicer modern buildings in downtown St. John's.

There's also the Bowring Downtown Centre. I know the store Bowring's exists in mainland Canada. The Bowrings are a prominent St. John's family. There have been lots of things named after them over the centuries.

Looking down Beck's Cove toward Harbour Drive and the harbour itself, you can also see the Murray Premises (now a hotel) and some of the older buildings along Water Street.

Finally, looking up George Street you can see where it veers to the pubs and clubs on the left and the staircase that continues up to Duckworth Street. All in all a beautiful intersection, I think.

Here's a map:

I had no idea Ubisoft's headquarters were in such a nice building. Although game developers do tend to gravitate towards warehouse offices.

Good intersection. Only problem is that St Laurant becomes a bit of a highway at this point and you cant jaywalk like one would on lower St Laurant.

By the way have you checked out Guilluame's on Fairmont? Best bread in the city.
