Great result considering they are lucky to be there after the disqualifications of teams that beat them.
The Japanese team was ranked 4th, their 'B' team was ranked 9th in the world.
The Canadian duo was ranked 28th.

To think they actually won a set and kept the last set close for the first half is incredible. You can't do anything but applaud them for that. Now to face Russia for bronze!

The only rowers left who made the 'A' final - David Calder and Scott Frandsen - finished last in the final and 6th overall. They won a silver in Beijing.

Meanwhile Ryan Cochrane easily won his heat and moves onto the 1500m free final as the 3rd placed swimmer. He won bronze in that event in Beijing.

Jason Burnett officially moves onto the men's trampoline final! He won silver in Beijing.

EDIT: Damn, he wiped out.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today congratulated the women’s eight rowing crew on their silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.

In women's 3m springboard Jennifer Abel has qualified for the semis, Heymans still has to make her last dive but unless she does a cannonball she's making it too.

EDIT: And she makes it! Both Abel and Heymans go into the semis ranked 4th and 6th respectively.

No medals for Canada today, but some huge gains for our teams. Tomorrow looks promising...perhaps our first gold?

What a win by the women's soccer crew over the home team Great Britain! They absolutely dominated that game.

Now onto (dun, dun dunnnn...) the States for the semifinal.

We'll do alright. Projections were for us to get 17-22 medals and I think we'll hit the lower end of that. We have a young team and the expectations are for most of them to hit their prime in 2016. Relax... enjoy!

Canada gets its first Gold Medal in women's trampoline! Besting two fierce Chinese competitors who sandwich her on the podium.

During the national anthem someone yelled "GO LEAFS GO!" lol

Too bad the dude who won the swimming wasn't disqualified for a false start. That may have turned Ryan's silver to gold.

Good day for Canada with a medley of medals: gold, silver and bronze!

I doubt Ryan Cochrane wants to win a gold by default. He seems like a class act.

I'm really excited about our summer Olympic team going forward. They keep getting stronger, more confident, and more well rounded each year. Makes me optimistic that in 12-16 years Canada can achieve in summer Olympics what we did in the winter Olympics. Even our teams are breaking new ground with our soccer team in the semi-final and the basketball team beating Brazil.

I don't know, that Chinese swimmer has to be on something. How is it possible to beat the field by 8 seconds at the Olympics!?

That's not unusual in a 1500m race; it only works out to .26 seconds faster each length of the pool. China has 1.2 billion people to choose from. It's more surprising that other countries still manage to stay with them.
