Thumbs up Alabama Gulf Coast

I wanted to create this thread to discuss developments along the Alabama gulf coast as there appears to be a lot of new developments recently.

GULF SHORES, Alabama -
A part of Gulf Shores that most folks never see is being developed as the city's second coast, the intracoastal waterway.

Here is an article from The Hollywood reporter about new Theme Park coming to Foley.

"Move over, Dollywood. The mega-hit Blue Collar Comedy trio of Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy are prepping a theme park of their own."

Wow, that would be a pretty big boon for the Alabama Gulf coast if true. I'm assuming this would be a seasonal operation.

(Little start up airlines like SAE appears to be pop up and fail all the time; I wouldn't bat an eyelash at it unless it's still around in 2 years.)

25 new restaurants coming to the island this summer

I know the oil spill had an effect on the restaurant scene, looks like its coming back strong. Remains to be seen if the tourist can support 25 new ones.

First of all, good idea for a thread! Welcome to all Baldwin Co neighbors

As for Southwest, I don't see them flying into Gulf Shores given their recent move to Pensacola, only about 40 (?) mins a way. Do airlines usually fly into locations so close? They're in Panama City but that's a solid 2-2 1/2 hour drive from P'cola.

This sounds like it has the potential to be really exciting. I've been saying for years that Gulf Shores needs a sort of downtown city-center, and this could serve as a solution to that problem. Overall, though, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach need to improve walkability and curb the sprawl before it completely destroys the natural beauty of the area

I totally agree. I think this could become the "urban core" of the future Gulf Shores.

The Eastern Shore just slammed a few axes into its own shins.

Eliminating the I-10 Bridge / Bayway from the near term plan is disastrous.

That's it Congrats, Baldwin County residents! You've been ill-served.
