I really love the contrast between 50 E Chestnut and JHC from this angle. The contrast is essentially just as great as the contrast between the JHC and the neighboring pre war buildings. Cheers for architectural diversity!
Does anyone else really like 50 E Chestnut. I normally don't like much postmodernism, but this is a very restrained, pseudo modern, clean, nice example of the style. I think this will be one of those buildings we look back at in 50 years and decide is a classic. It's almost on par with 30 W Oak which is such a badass building. I just think there are several towers like this from the boom that are really excellent, but very under appreciated.
Fantastic pics! What's your Instagram? I want to follow you.
I really hate Trump tower, but you somehow made it look rather attractive here!
...incidentally I think 50 E Chestnut is trash. It has nice finishes and is built using expensive materials, but that doesn't save the fact that it's disposable garbage.
So I went to Pride this past Sunday and it was..well it was an experience. Chicago needs to do a better job of crowd management. A million people packed onto Halstead with nowhere to go for hours. It was 90+ degrees with pretty high humidity. Trying to get to Roscoes was life threatening considering it was in the middle of the parade. I had to hold onto a pole for dear life while being crushed by drunk teenagers.
Also: it is never a smart thing to drink lots of alcohol all at once. Especially in high heat. Saw many people puking their brains out and many people taken away on stretchers.
Anyway, here are the few pics I managed to snap before I was over it.
Also a couple of pics from right before Monday's storms.
