Steel looks to be up to floor 6 or 7 already.

I was down in this area Saturday and work was going on at this site. They must be trying to meet an aggressive schedule.

This tower crane is awfully high for such a short building. It's much higher than the crane for 1601 vine

For a building like this it is more economical to erect the tower crane at the final height rather than "jumping it", which is when you add more sections to the trunk of the crane. So when a mid sized building such as this is going to be erected and you do not need tower crane tie back you will just erect the crane the full height.

The crane at 1601 Vine will be jumped numerous times because of the height of the building and the need for tie backs.

I sort of figured this was done to save time and money. I hadn't thought about how you can only do this with cranes of a certain height that don't require additional lateral bracing to the building structure as it rises. Seems to be the same deal at East Market and the Dalian.

I'm pretty sure the crane was erected that high to give it clearance over the neighboring towers. The boom would clearly reach the pinkish and brown towers in that last shot. Putting it over those structures gives it full rotational range without having to rent a luffing style crane.

Correct. Not only that, but this is the highest the crane will have to go. Might as well put it at max height for a tower like this so you don't have to spend extra money/man-power, etc. to jump the crane.

1601 Vine crane is nowhere near it's highest height since the building is still in the ground. Once the tower starts to go up, they'll have to jump the crane.

MikeNigh and TallCoolOne has some very impressive aerial photos!

Do either of you use a drone and gopro, or do you just leap up like Superman, and focus?

I live in one tower then have access to 1717 and comcast with work. Otherwise I just take my helicopter.

I hope the row homes going around the parking garage will do a good job oh hiding it. The parking structure is pretty high and the homes in the rendering are only 2 floors I think. It would also be cool to have a green roof on the top level of that garage for the Museum tower residents but I dont think that will be the case

this seems to be a combination of steel and concrete. Are those precast concrete floor panels? I don't see any signs of each floor being cast in place.
