My LA Life (Ongoing)

Go check out my new video shot on a yacht with Vice and Sonjay Dutt

And we are live on Apple Music (https://itun.es/us/Iz_08), Spotify (https://play.spotify.com/album/1UcQ3hiXvVgAU1aWoYe3BP) and Google Music/Amazon Music etc! You can stream (YouTube) videos here right now also:

now on to the photos...

Aye what up honorable citizens of SSP. I'm not a great photographer, but I will try to capture unique aspects of living in LA as I go about my business. We start with Inglewood, where I went yesterday (primarily 6000 S Vermont and nearby - also near 83rd and Main but those photos will be posted later). I'm looking into purchasing a small commercial property but am just in the early stages of doing so.

Beautiful murals all over LA

The bane of every LA resident - the stripmall. Actually they aren't too bad (tho they are everywhere) in LA as they are tightly packed with many small retail bays. Frequently an interesting mesh of retailers.

I live with my wife and 3.5 year old son in an 11th floor loft in DTLA, in the Historic Core subneighborhood. The views are pretty incredible:

Very nice! The historic downtown has to be reckoned with. I saw only a sample when I was there last. Hope to have ample photography time if I get to visit again.

Thanks man! It is a beautiful building. DT is blessed with a lot of attractive buildings, tho.

Indeed. Your LA photothread was great, tho

On to some more photos. Typical LA backyard or no? The neighbor had a slightly scary dog, but hey, that's a free alarm, right? As long as the MFer don't bark all night

#Inglewood by thaeisahtbizall, on Flickr

Now I'm over to 83rd and S. Main area, checking out another small commercial property. What neighborhood is that called? Manchester District? We start with the world famous...

The property in question
14

15
#Inglewood by thaeisahtbizall, on Flickr

It was unclear to me if this attached storefront is part of the property for sale or not. I asked the agent but haven't heard a reply...
16
#Inglewood by thaeisahtbizall, on Flickr

That Mini Market is apparently vacant and a church is interested in moving in. Or so I was told. I'm going to look at the interior of the 1926 commercial building at 60th and S. Vermont. I find it interesting that many both commercial and residential properties, even on small lots, will have two buildings on them. Which is great imo!

Newish (decade unclear) housing across the street
#Inglewood by thaeisahtbizall, on Flickr

What do you guys think of say 60th and Vermont neighborhood and this one? Both were nicer than I was expecting, to be honest. I thought they would be fine, but I was impressed.

If anyone has any requests for things they would like to see some pics of, let me know. I'm newish to LA (lived in Cali before, tho I'm from FL and have lived in NOLA/DC) and would enjoy checking out new areas.

Awesome views from your balcony! I'm enjoying this photo tour.

What kind of business are you opening up?

Thanks for responding and viewing! Here are some exterior shots of my building. It's the 3rd one in the row (to the right)

18
#DTLA life by thaeisahtbizall, on Flickr

The level of detail is remarkable

19
#DTLA life by thaeisahtbizall, on Flickr

Note that all three wings pictured here are for this building. Despite the large size, there are only approximately 64 units/owners.
20
#DTLA life by thaeisahtbizall, on Flickr

As for the business, it's a little fluid. The original plan was to buy a small two unit commercial building and start both a yoga studio and a recording studio. Note that my main employment at the present is real estate investing. I'm not an agent, but I own 4 rowhouses in DC, a large 3 unit in NOLA and the Loft also. I enjoy residential RE investing, but I want to branch out and do something a little more hands on. I'd also like to employ more people if possible. Now I prefaced all of this by saying its fluid, and that's because starting two businesses at the same time (while also spending as lot of time picking up and dropping off my son from school, and hanging out with him) is kind of ridiculous. Some of the properties seem to have one retail unit and one residential. That's not a bad setup, rent the apt and that would cover most of my expenses. In the retail unit I could start one of the businesses (likely the recording studio) and be set. Although I would definitely be open to renting to a commercial tenant. A NNN lease sounds extremely appealing! A lot to think about.

I love the historic core of L.A. Incredibly underrated. People love to bash downtown L.A., but it has excellent historic building stock and felt vibrant to me when I was there back in August 2012.

It's unclear to me if the 2nd floor is an office or an apt. I'm assuming the 2nd floor was added during the recent renovation

I'm working on a LP with the other two guys featured there. Should be dope, I'll post the first single here once it's ready.

click here to stream the album on Spotify

You can download the whole EP for free at DatPiff (no sign up required) (with skits and in proper order etc): http://piff.me/e1fb3f6

Also available on iTunes/GooglePlay/Amazon Music Xbox music

I hate asking people to check out my shit but even if you're not feeling it I really appreciate anyone who takes a second out of their day to give it a try.

Hey, tell me what you guys think of this track. I did this beat, actually looped a little part of one my friend's band (The Campbell Apartment) track... gotten a lot of good feedback on it. We are actually shooting the video next couple weeks for the first single off the new album.

Your little guy is living quite the life! You are doing him and this city a huge favor by raising him in an urban milieu. He'll have a totally different relationship, perspective, and appreciation for certain things compared to a kid growing up in, say, Santa Clarita.

Interesting comment, and I agree. We often remark that it will be good for him to be exposed to all walks of life. TBH I do cringe when he hears bad language on the Expo Line (which is occasional, not constant). And it's really sad how sick some of the homeless are. Hopefully that improves as this promised new housing comes online! Hope springs eternal.

Appreciate the response (and sorry I missed responding to some of earlier responses)!

Earlier today we went on a long walk and started at the Spring St. Arcade. My wife enjoyed a wheatgrass shot at the juicery there.

Shameless plug only because it's a little hard to follow between all the other photos:
click here to stream the album on Spotify

Got my first streaming checks from Spotify and Xbox Music! Interesting that Xbox Music pays at a 5x rate (or higher!) than Spotify. Although I guess they are all paying subscribers only now whereas Spotify has the mix of tiers. Of course Spotify has many, many more subscribers! The space will become very interesting once Apple's premium streaming offering is released. That will dramatically change the market. I'm obviously doing the rap thing as mainly a hobby but I find the business aspect of it fascinating.
Anybody else on here rap? I'm always down for some collaborations. The first couple videos coming soon too!
