identifying a highrise

I am trying to identify this building for a filming location research:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/378476...posted-public/

It's a stock shot from a film library used in a 1989 episode of "Falcon Crest". It was sold to the audience as "a hotel in Chicago". I know the location does not really have to be in Chicago because filmmakers often use footage from anywhere that might be convenient. I am not too familiar with Chicago, but it doesn't seem to be there unless I've overlooked it.
It doesn't look like Los Angeles either, which would be a natural choice for stock shots since "Falcon Crest" -- at that time -- was entirely filmed in Greater L.A.

Also, please note that since this shot was licensed for the production from a film library, the actual footage might be older than 1989.

I thought I'd give it a try here with you as skyscraper experts. Maybe somebody knows where to find it.
Thanks a lot for taking a look!

I was going to suggest you try this site: http://www.falconcrest.org/english/m...pisodes/ai/bts

But I see on Reddit you claim you're the owner of it. Well, what next?

From the architectural styles of the buildings that's definitely a scene from the 80s and almost certainly in the Southwestern US if not in or near a major city with a warm climate in this hemisphere.

I accept your challenge.

Its not Sacramento currently, I'm not aware of any highrise there having been imploded in case it was there back then, so I don't think it was. It doesn't look familiar from my time in San Francisco either, so this is still a headscratcher for me.

Thanks to everyone for looking. I really appreciate your help because I know what an incredible challenge this is.

We've done extensive location research on "Falcon Crest" filming sites for a complete database on falconcrest.org. We have collected 750+ locations of approximately 800 - 820 in total... so the ones remaining are really difficult.

I've been trying to identify this particular skyscraper for almost ten years, but still hope someone might recognize it.
