Exclamation Your opinions on "SomeSortOfHuman's" illustrations please...

A new illustrator named "SomeFormOfHuman" has submitted several drawings of the Empire State Building and two of the John Hancock building in Chicago. Here are some of them:

They are suspicious to me.

His ESB (newest one pictured here) looks to have perspective at the top. I'm not sure if it is or it isn't perspective though because of the way the whole building looks distorted. I also think parts of this may be from a photo. I can't say what else it is that he did, but the whole drawing looks suspicious to me.

The Hancock looks too blurry, and becuase of his ESB, has fallen under my suspicion.

What do you guys think of these?

Very suspicious.

I'd bet he pilfered from past illustrations to do those.

Well the ESB does look like a complete drawing unless tiny little bits are from a photo, but yea it does look familiar like other ESB drawings.

Maybe a slightly altered mirror image of this one

His Hancock reminded me of a distorted and rearranged Kelvin's with its shading.

I guess illustrators are gonna have to also submit the step by step procedure they went through to draw their illustrations and perhaps animate them too as proof that they created them from scratch

Perhaps new illustrators should start with buildings that have not yet been diagrammed... therefore we'll have a stylistic reference.

That is what I am planning to do smiley. I see no point in doing buildings that have already been done. Especially since theirs will be better than my pathetic attempts.

Fo John Hancock, I can assure that it is done purely by him, He took a screenshot of the background colours uisng coreldraw and showed it to me. So the 'cross bars' infront must be just lines that he drew in.

Well his John Hancock had the wrong heights anyway. That's why I didn't approve them.

They look like he did them at no particular scale and they just didn't resize properly. And the top of ESB looks like he sharpened it too much and it adding too much light and made it look like perspective. But his John Hancock does look like Kelvins... a little but I'm sure it's not.

If there is any doubt still lingering, which I suspect there is given that nobody really wants to approve his drawings . We can try a test of sorts. Someone can request him to draw a significant building that doesn't have a diagram yet, but not tell him we're testing him, just that you'd like him to draw it cuz he's a good illustrator. This should set us at ease if he succeeds.

The Hancock is not a direct descendant of mine. The angle and lighting scheme are similar and he may have used mine for positioning but there is no copying involved I believe. However, there is still some aspect of his drawings which remain curious. There is an almost-cropped kind of look to his edges. Perhaps what Taylor suggest is the case, just an over-sharpening.

alright then, we'll put it at a One hit and you're out including a deletion of all his diagrams.

We already know he understands the rules and knows it's wrong to copy. Keep a close eye, but he may be ok.

His JHC drawings were being deleted because his antenna and roof heights were incorrect.

A quicker test would be to ask him to show us a non resized drawing. All his drawings look like they were drawn at 2:1 or bigger.

Yeah but then we wouldn't get a brand-new undrawn (or replacement for a poorly drawn) diagram. LOL

I noticed that he submitted a drawing for the Illinois. Seems like he really wants to go after my drawings for some reason.

BTW: His Illinois is the wrong color.
