Buffalo, New York - University Heights

The University Heights neighborhood is in the Northeastern part of the city limits, adjacent to the State University of NY at Buffalo South Campus, generally known as UB. The University was founded as the University of Buffalo in 1846 by former President Millard Fillmore, who made his home in the area. The area of the university is at the highest elevation within the city limits. The campus area was formerly the location of the Erie County Almshouse and Poor Farm until the late 1800s, when it relocated to Forest Avenue, and UB acquired the land and buildings in 1909.

Hayes Hall, part of the original Almshouse, built in 1874, as seen from Main Street.

Almost looks like its own little college town. Nice.

Shouldn't the Lake Effect Diner be on the South Side of the city?

Nice pictures! It's good to see some Buffalo neighborhoods outside the central core.

I can dig! I do like me some Buffalo. The city name is cool and it's a city that if I had a gazillion dollars i'd love to invest in (and do whatever i could to attract more investment) along with Pittsburgh and Detroit. I guess you could say that I have a soft spot for these cities.
