Quick City Overview: Liverpool
City: Manchester
County: Merseyside
Place: Quick City Overview
Liverpool is traditionally the city that competes with Manchester, in the sports, culturally and socially. Interestingly, both cities are only 50 km away from each other. However, while Manchester is inland, Liverpool is almost directly connected to the Irish Sea, which endowed it with a more port-like identity, unlike the industrial imprint of its competitor city. This can be seen in its architecture, radically different. Appart from that, since the mid-twentieth century, the city added a new edge to its culture as the birthplace of the Beatles, whose image is its main tourist focus, especially notable in The Cavern Club, which remains today as one of the icon places of Liverpool.
