I went to the exhibit opening in Taipei - very impressive (I might add especially so, when one considers the low priority Taiwanese society places on architecture)

Alishan

There are around 10 New Landscape Movement Projects that were posted before. I am hoping to have these projects re-posted or updated in this thread as time goes by. I will start with the Alishan project with the renderings provided by taiwan ren.

My Japanese Prof. was so impressed about Taroko 3 years ago when he visited. He was stunned by its world-class scenery that his jaw was virtually dropped the whole trip!

Believe or not, that was the actual government's website for the project a couple of months ago...and has now become an unrelated commercial website. What a shame!!

That's why me and taiwan ren tried to retrieve whatever we got from other sources about the projects and post them here! But, it takes time....

Great Q! All the above constructions are part of the New Landscape Movement Project which was set to begin last year, but has since been postponed til this year due to election and what not.

The budget for this year was passed earlier today as we speak in the congress, which included all the above projects and many more. Nonetheless, approx. 40 billion NT was cut for fiscal year 06' after bipartisan agreement to seal the deal. So, could anyone from Taiwan update us what was been cut?? Better not be my national palace!!!

The CP website is still around and the proposal continues to be listed on Taipei's urban redevelopment website. In any case, if the site is developed there will likely be another calll for proposals. As for the status of the landscape projects, I didn't see any signs of construction in Keelung or Alishan during recent visits.
