LOL. It has been slow this past week, must be the summer heat

This is not too major because the building already exists, but here is some news regarding the Boise Co-op remodel.

as nice as it is to see all the construction downtown this year, it would be great to hear a couple more big projects on the horizon.

most of the projects are fairly small (whole foods, chick fila, etc.) so it'd be cool if we heard about another high-density project.

greedy? yes. demanding? yes. hungry? only for pie.

It'd be nice to even have news about projects already proposed like River 8 or even some rumors about a new convention center or something. Just something to keep us occupied while we wait for JUMP and 8th and Main to get going.

I did notice the other day that the two lots on Royal Boulevard between Capitol Blvd and Ann Morrison have been cleared....the lots where two new multi residential projects are proposed.

Woo-Hoo! End of August is coming up, meaning I'll be moving back to Boise very soon!!
What a bummer that I missed the summer, but at least I'll be back in time to see Eighth & Main and JUMP rise!.

Here's a great article I found on the Statesman yesterday.

Boise River Park rapidly becomes lure

Venue’s instant popularity shows its potential as an economic development tool

By SVEN BERG — sberg@idahostatesman.com

A good wave lifts all boats.

It also lifts the businesses that rent those crafts and the spirits of people who play in them.

The waves at Boise River Park even boosts sales of ice cream sandwiches.

“It’s bringing a ton of business to us,” said Colton Kerkman, who sells refreshments at the Yak Shack a few hundred feet from the whitewater park.

It's become so popular! Each time I bike down there I always see people either play boating, or swimming in Quinn's pond. I really hope this will finally spur some much Needed development in that area. Oh, and thanks for posting that article BA! I hope you Hurry up and get back to Boise ASAP!

Final Draft of 30th Street Area Development Master Plan

Now available at: http://pds.cityofboise.org/planning/...ransportation/ Page has link to the draft which is a huge PDF. It's a very extensive and comprehensive document.

Public hearing on it August 14th, 6pm at the State Capitol building.

Sports BW Video Preview: Good Sports

Posted by George Prentice on Tue, Aug 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM

Boise loves its sports: the Broncos, Hawks, Stampede, Steelheads and, oh yes, Kristin Armstrong.

But perhaps what distinguishes the City of Trees from dozens of other cities that claim to be "great sports towns" is how much participation there is: Simplot Field is packed on any given weekend with soccer games, more Idahoans are embracing the rush of whitewater, the slopes of Bogus, Brundage and Mt. Baldy are part of growing up here, and you can't dismiss the ever-increasing number of cyclists.

"Sure, Boise is an awesome sports town," John Brunelle, assistant for economic development for the city, told Boise Weekly. "But, let's face it, there's a lot of great sports towns. But the difference in Boise is how many participants we have: Boiseans are players. They're the runner, the skier, the rafter, and certainly the cyclist."

Minor development news!

Looks like the 4-story mixed use 916 Park is going back up for design review. This is the site of the old Quasar development.

http://pdsonline.cityofboise.org/pds...00227&type=doc

Also going up for design review is the long awaited Boise Airport Parking Garage expansion.

Haha yup. Used to work at the one at Eagle and Ustick, best sandwhiches. Unfortunately no pics of that, but I got some awesome pics of downtown from the foothills today I'm going to post as soon as I get them uploaded.
