LEHI -- Software giant Adobe made a major announcement Friday. The company unveiled it will build a campus in Lehi, which will bring many more jobs to the state.

Adobe announced a couple of months ago it would build in Utah. Now the company has announced it will set up shop in Lehi near the Cabela's store off I-15.

At an event Friday morning, Adobe brought its employees from its campus in Orem to celebrate the new location.

Last year, Adobe bought Orem-based Omniture for $1.8 billion and will move the company's presence in Utah from Orem to Lehi.

The company expects to add as many as 350 more jobs with the likelihood of bringing another thousand to the state over the next decade.

Adobe says it likes what Utah has to offer and believes it will be a leader in the state's economic future.

"We have 620 employees currently in the state of Utah," said Brad Rencher, vice president and general manager of Omniture Adobe. "These are software engineers, sales reps, really well paying jobs. Our average salary is about 175 percent of the average in Utah County. It truly is an opportunity for us to become the foundation for the broader technology community in Utah."

Lehi City leaders believe Adobe will be a catalyst in bringing not only more high-tech jobs to the area but is optimistic other businesses will get a boost, such as restaurants and hotels.

The facility is planned to be 230,000 square feet. Construction is expected to begin sometime next year with the facility opening in the fall of 2012.

Unprecedented: Deer Valley No. 1 for the fourth time

SKI Magazine readers again name the resort their top pick

For the fourth year in a row, 20,000 readers of SKI Magazine have selected Deer Valley Resort as the No. 1 resort in North America.
The results of the closely watched survey were announced Thursday night, said Jessica Kunzer, spokesperson for Ski Utah.

No other resort has topped the rankings four years in a row.


"It's quite an honor pretty darn incredible," said Bob Wheaton, president and general manager.

It also marks 10 years Deer Valley finished in the top three.

In the subcategories, the resort finished first in grooming, guest service, dining and lodging, and second place in lifts, weather and family programs.

"All the people on staff made this happen every day," he said. "It's something we can't let off the gas on one little bit. Yesterday's accomplishments are just that."

Wheaton said he credits peer mentoring for the high level of service his employees provide guests.

"If you're in a position to provide an elevated level of service, and are provided the tools to do that, the response you get back from guests is very positive and reinforces what you're doing," he said.


Deer Valley Resort

Park City Mountain Resort was ranked No. 5 overall and has been in the top five for six of the past seven years. It was in the top 10 for nine subcategories.

President and General Manager Jenni Smith said creating a positive experience for families has been a goal and the survey ranked the resort in the top three in that category.

Todd Burnette, vice president of marketing for Canyons Resort, said the resort was ranked 18th overall. That's an improvement of two spots in a ski season that saw no mountain improvements, he said. Burnette said he credits the climb to the resort's attentive response to guest feedback.
Since the resort made the most significant on-mountain improvements of any resort in North America this year, he expects the ranking to climb further in next year's survey and continue improving.

"I really see us moving up this list fairly quickly over the next few years as people experience the improvements we'll be making," he said.

Kunzer said the rankings resonate with destination skiers and improve how people see the state.

"It makes us feel really special that people are passionate about our resorts," she said. "When you look at the wonderful resorts in other states we're ranked against, it's quite the achievement."


Deer Valley earns an unprecedented four-peat as Ski Magazine's Top Resort

The best keeps getting better - or at least that's the findings of SKI Magazine readers, as Utah's Deer Valley Resort has once again been named the #1 ski resort in North America for an unprecedented fourth straight year.

No other ski resort has ever earned the prestigious ranking so many times consecutively. But the story doesn't end there. Over the past decade, Deer Valley's SKI ranking hasn't dropped lower than third, holding a #2 ranking in 2001-02; a #1 ranking in 2002-03; a #3 rating in 2003-04; a #2 rating in 2004-05; another #1 ranking in 2005-06, a #2 rating in 2006-07, and #1 rankings in the 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.

Aside from being named the #1 Resort in all of North America, Deer Valley ranked winningly in many individual categories. Highlights included the Resort being given #1 rankings for grooming, service, access, on-mountain food, lodging and dining. The Resort also received #2 rankings for lifts, weather and family programs.

SALT LAKE CITY -- From the roof of the Key Bank Tower construction workers look like ants, but you can see exactly how the City Creek Center will look.




From the huge rectangles that will be Nordstrom and Macy's to the hundreds of apartments and condos, even the spots for the water features and open space can be seen.

"The shape of things to come is clearly visible now," said spokesman Dale Bills, as he points out the spots where 80-plus shops will be.

"For City Creek overall, we're at a point now where it's topped out," he said. "We're not going any higher and we are largely formed in."

The glass pedestrian bridge over Main street and the retractable roofs over the retail areas are impressive.

"The next 18 months, as we get ready for retail grand opening, are finishing out interiors," Bills said. "We do have a few things left to close in and finish with exteriors, but as I said the shape of things to come is clearly visible now."

To the southeast all the dirt being moved around at site of the future Harmons grocery store is clearly visible. It should be finished by late 2011, with more living space open in the middle of 2011. Bills says the whole development is set to open March 2012.

Downtown - New North Temple Viaduct & Light Rail To Airport Project

The $71 million rebuild is a key part of Utah Transit Authority's future
light-rail TRAX line to Salt Lake City's International Airport. That project
is projected to cost $350 million.

The new structure will descend at 400 West instead of 300 West,
Carpenter said, with a built-in TRAX lane, security lighting, bike and pedestrian
paths, and a transfer station where riders can switch between FrontRunner and TRAX.

FLSmidth opens new technology research center in Midvale

...FLSmidth, a global player in the minerals processing industry that is headquartered in Denmark, on Wednesday opened its new technology center in the View72 Corporate Center, at 7200 S. 1100 West, in Midvale.

The opening, attended by many of the 400 employees who will work there and several local dignitaries, contained a certain irony.
The location was once the site of a gigantic smelting and tailings area that landed on the Superfund list and needed to be cleansed before it could be considered safe. Meanwhile, FLSmidth is a leader in devising new ways to make a cleaner and more environmentally friendly activity. And the building itself features many eco-friendly characteristics and is the biggest LEED-certified office park in Utah...
