Faces of Salt Lake City/County's Millcreek Neighborhoods - A look at the four communities that could become one, big city.

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/home/51...ount.html.csp#

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Jeff Silvestrini, the chair of the Mount. Olympus neighborhood, has been involved with the community council for 17 years. We feature the four distinct communities of Millcreek - Mt. Olympus, Canyon Rim, East Millcreek and Millcreek - and the people who oversee them such as Silvestrini.

It ascends the slopes of Mount Olympus, meanders along still-wooded sections of Mill Creek, wraps around the rim of Parley’s Historic Nature Park and stretches through industrial parks to the Jordan River.

This is Millcreek, an unincorporated suburb in Salt Lake County and home to four distinct communities: Mount Olympus, Canyon Rim, East Millcreek and Millcreek.

Combined, those neighborhoods have about 62,000 people. If it were a city, it would be the county’s fifth largest and rank among the state’s top 10.

Now, an effort is under way to make Millcreek a city, the county’s 17th. Today, The Salt Lake Tribune introduces you to this township through the eyes of the people who lead those four communities...

On your last picture, that building on the right, is that the original facade or is it redone?

If you are speaking of the building on the corner, I believe that is the original facade of that building.

Yeah right... LOL. The quality throughout is superb, and IMO looks anything but fake.

SLC ranked No. 2 in public transit

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...c-transit.html

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Transit Authority's sprawling route map helped to earn the state's capital city a spot as having the second-best public transportation in the nation.

The No. 2 ranking was announced Wednesday and was the result of a recent U.S. News and World Report study, identifying the "10 Best Cities" to get around in. The publication pointed out that even though Salt Lake City is home to just over 180,000 people, UTA serves more than nine times that — 1.7 million.

Salt Lake City's public transportation system is the No. 1 city in the nation as far as public transit spending per capita, marking what U.S. News called "a heavy investment in serving a large suburban and exurban population." The reason for the high current costs is UTA's ongoing expansion of TRAX lines into outlying areas to provide better access to the city...

In Post #2225: Pictures 4 - 8 are the ones I was referring to. That tall building looks amazing (Premonition?), I just meant these ones I'm pointing out. I don't like to be negative, but it just looks really cheap.

There are no windows in the south side of the brick facade because a future condo tower is going to sprout out of that base next to it with the windows. I'm not sure why the other brick facades would register for you as any different than what is consistently throughout the project, high quality hand laid brick.

Often, the same building photographed in a brighter light or without HDR can appear very different in its finish. Post #2235 shows a level of detail that is pretty much the standard throughout the different Projects. Of course, the HDR T-Mac used, brings out the brick and stone shadings and texture. A couple of weeks ago, a particular forumer thought that the buildings were actually finished in the much hated stucco. It was just that the detail of the real stone and brick was not apparent in those particular photos. However, in real life the quality is very apparent.
