San Diego during the holiday season

I spent the weekend after Thanksgiving in San Diego enjoying beautiful coastal California. I stayed in the Gaslamp District and visited various areas, including a walk all the way up the coast from Ocean Beach to La Jolla. I had a great time and here's what I saw along the way.

Love this tour, my family drove down to San Diego the day after Christmas. We spent the week and the weather was beyond perfect. Usually this time of year would have been too cold for swimming but my son and I got in the pool every day at the hotel, of course the pool was heated. Lots of snowbirds visiting and with such nice weather every was in a good mood and very chill.

As I’m gotten older San Diego has moved to the top of my list of favorite cities to visit. It’s close to LA and the drive in my opinion is probably one of the the most scenic between two large cities in the USA.

I actually had a job offer to move to San Diego a little over a year ago when the facility I worked at was closing. As bad as my wife and I wanted to move (her more than me) after us listing the pros and cons, I had to turn it down we just couldn’t make it work for us even though emotionally we really wanted to make the move. I don’t regret it as something better came along. Thankfully it’s just 2-3 hours away so we go as much as we can, we like staying on Shelter Island, it’s close to downtown and the beaches and has beautiful skyline views that can’t be beat.

Again thanks for the beautiful tour, awesome photos as always.

How can anyone NOT like San Diego? It's gorgeous. Props on walking all the way from Ocean Beach to LaJolla. That's a hike!

WOW! As a San Diego native and someone who has been on this forum since 2001, I have to give it to you -- this is the best San Diego thread I've ever seen on here. You really captured the essence of many of our neighborhoods. SD has come SUCH a long way in being more urban since I was a kid.

Love that you explored Hillcrest/North Park.

I think SD is underrated for the amount of cute, small but walkable neighborhoods it has. They aren't necessarily well connected by transit, but they pack a punch for a sunbelt city.

Also...the lats on this hottie...I'm drooling. LOL

I always enjoy your photo threads, but this one about my hometown is exceptional. And very flattering to San Diego. You should get a monetary award from the mayor for portraying the city in such a positive light.

Showing up late here, but great photos. You really got around the city on your visit. Great to see a lot of shots of neighborhoods that don't show up in postcards too. And cool that you went to the Marston House, I still haven't been inside despite having lived here forever and Irving Gill being my favorite architect.
