270 Park Avenue Construction Update

Once that cladding passes the next setback, which should be sometime this week, there really won’t be too much before this baby is shining on the skyline, the birth of a new landmark.

Another breathtaking update of the crown construction from above. It should fully top out this week for sure.

The quality of that video is unreal. Not sure I've ever seen anything like it.

The crane operator eating his lunch at 2:20 is quite the perspective.

How can you not love these videos. It's like looking at the old photos of the Empire State and Rockefeller Center construction.

Someone needs to make sure Fred Mills from B1M sees this. He loves 270 Park.

It was worth it, watching this baby, from demolition to construction. Enjoyed every minute. Still just a little more height to go.

the bigger worry is going to be how that deluge of louvers mixed with the two glass levels of VIP rooms at the top are going to look... has the potential to be a hot mess.

Look at those skyscrapers like Chrysler and Citicorp that used to dominate the midtown skyline now look like they are hiding these days. Anyway, I think 270 Park will be a New York favorite or #2 only to Empire State buiding.

In the old days it was Chrysler, Citicorp, then came Bloomberg and Trump World. But even taller towers like One57 and 53w53 don’t stand out as much due to the new giants. Imagine if 270 Park were built before 432. It would have been more of a “shocking” change than it is now. And nope, we’re not done yet.

Hey all, long time lurker but first time poster here.

Seeing this rise up past the surrounding skyline has been awesome. Judging by the top-most steel diamond as seen in the recent ‘9 mile productions’ video are we only 2 levels of steel away from reaching the maximum structural height?

I was going to say... Citicorp building looks like a filler now. Crazy.

Completely different sense of proportion of the skyline now, if you know the buildings you're looking at.

You can use the formation of the final diamond as a guide. It's where we are now.

Nice to see the cladding about to pass the second setback.

I signed up just to share that youtube video but looks like someone already beat me to it! really puts the scale into perspective and the fact that we tiny humans can build such giants.

Construction and iron workers will forever have my respect.

Not long to go!

It appears that there is only one 'taller' or two 'shorter' levels of steel left to go, and it can be seen that the levels of steel making up the final section are not entirely consistent in height. Perhaps someone with an up-to-date understanding of the steel frame may know more?

I'm interested to see what lighting they end up adding to this, really hoping for something iconic to match the building itself.

EDIT: Image quality
