An AHL team would rob the NHL team of too much revenue... there is only so much disposible income dedicated to sporting events available. Winnipeg would probably lose both teams if they split that revenue.

Although I am sure there would be some interesting options for the team relocation.

My mistake; MOST NHL teams don't play in the same city as their farm teams, let alone the same arena.

If you examine the current AHL teams you'd notice that Winnipeg and Hamilton are 2 of the smaller markets, although both do well at the gate.

I don't think a city of less than 400,000 would be an option.

I remember Detriot had both the Wings and an IHL team (Vipers) ... but even in a hockey rich environment, it couldn't support both teams.

True. Though In the states Rochester NY the farm team of the Buffalo Sabres is much smaller, like 200 000.

Perhaps Regina and Saskatoon can share our farm team with 20 home games each.

How about a WHL junior team that way it caters to people who cannot afford an NHL ticket. Our nhl team could also give free tickets to junior games; the people who get those tickets would get help pay for the junior club by buying at the concession stand and beers and parking.

Along with the higher end luxury suites, if I were them I would definately make another row of luxury suites that are slightly cheaper and smaller to accomodate smaller buisinesses who want to buy some suites.

also they will be adding a bit luxury suites and apparently the capacity can be made to accomodate 16 000.

im pretty sure it is only ticket revenue....

the idea about another row of suites is alreay under consideration....they would be sky suites like they have in edmonton and would be probably be cheaper than the ones already in place as you suggest.

the moose suck....i would be the first to wish them good riddance.

Interesting .... if the MTS Centre could get there hands on more of the parking revenue .. and add some additional revenue the ability to support a team greatly improves.

You may not like the Moose ... but they are among the very best in the AHL and real contenders to win the whole thing... so maybe 'suck" isn't the right term. I also like being able to buy great seats for $30 ... but like you I would become a huge JETS fan if they ever returned.

naw...the moose suck....they could win the 'whatever cup' and they would still suck...

anytime i hear that an adult is going to a moose game without kids, i ask, who gave you the free tickets?...there is always an answer.

i believe the parkade across the street provides revenue to the MTS centre...as well as those VLT's in the tavern united.

I believe its called the Calder Cup .... and a good handful of Moose players have made there way to the Canucks this year, so they can't be that bad.

I have never been given free tickets.. I have been treated to a game or two, but the tickets were bought. I can also honestly say I have been given tickets to the Flames by my employer. Corporate seats.. pretty sweet.
So I don't think that can be held against the Moose.

I would like to see the empty lot on Graham and Hargrave occupied by a sizable parkade, with another restaurant on the ground floor and a building pad on top.. as a revenue generator for the team. Plus a good handful more VLT terminals.. and this team would be earning a good revenue stream all year around.

It used to be the Minnesota Moose before they moved to Winnipeg, and then in 97 Minnesota got their NHL team back. Perhaps the Moose can be a good luck team, wherever they go an NHL team follows.

the Wachovia Spectrum is home to both the Philadelphia Flyers and their AHL Affiliate Philadelphia Phantoms. they are even know to play on the same day. Philadelphia were considering a promotion where when you purchased a Flyers ticket you could see the Phantoms play earlier that afternoon.
