Rimap was involved with that one? I remember Lamb selling the project, but didn't know Rimap took over. The project was simplified greatly, but still a solid design.
Yes Rimap did under the banner of Canvar Group/Prince Developments. It is a solid design, but it would have been great if that building was at least 10 floors higher considering the impact it would have had on the skyline.

Pretty big bait & switch as far as I'm concerned.

Looks like they kept they’re promise on the industrial windows though.

I think it will look ok in the end.
This one in particular was always quite a mixture of cladding. It's hard to judge with just this portion done so far.

As far as precast goes this is actually half decent if you ask me. I like the offsets on the lower floors and then the larger windows once you go up. It's alright by me so far. As usual.. devil is in the details.

Assuming the keep the industrial style 12/16 panel windows on the existing building I wonder if that would have been a bit overkill to try and carry that over onto the rest of the structure. I think the idea is to try an preserve the original building and then kind of fade it into a new structure as you go horizontally and then upwards. That's how I see it.

Either way, I think this is the strongest build in this pocket since 90 George.

Looks alright at best . But I’m gonna have to wait till all the glass and other materials in to make a call on this one imo…

Yes. As it goes up it really looks like the shelter will be surrounded. Hard to see that block not improving with a hotel and rental building abutting the shelters.
Though that's been said with every new building they've finished in the area over 20 years.

I'm looking forward to seeing the grey/white portion on the rest of the tower. Thank god the whole thing is not clad with those bricks, otherwise the building would feel very big and heavy, but I'm also wondering how the two portions or styles will blend together.

My initial worry was that it would cut off the sky in the horizon, but its shape makes the building frame the market quite well.

So the entire tower is going to be cheapo precast concrete and brick panels?!?

Edit:
Rimap scares me now. The first two towers (Moxy Marriot/AC Marriot) are pale reflections of their renders. This does not bode well for the new tallest tower in downtown, the Marriott Renaissance. We've all been hoping it will match up to Releve, but I have serious doubts.

Strange, because they build some really high quality hotels in Montreal.

Can anyone explain why some of the brick has more of a white cast than others? Is it just lazy grout clean up or is this temporary/part of the design?

Can't they just copy-paste the Releve ones? Literally install the same materials and even use the same guys to install them!

Is that even brick? I thought it was just red tinted concrete? (Considering this is a drop-in precast panel, and they're quite thin)

Edit:

Or is it this:

This makes me worried for the future. Essentially absorptive tile just waiting to have water/freeze thaw/falling off. And how is it repaired??

I would imagine they will do a wash with muriatic acid or something to that effect in the end.

All the other janky brick in town at least got a wash despite the overall Stevie Wonder application of said mortar.

I'd be curious to learn more about the manufacture and application of these panels if anyone has a line on what we are using here. Seems very similar to the spot McArthur and VP as others have pointed out.
