Thurmas, I'm sorry to hear the news... all my best wishes and thoughts I am sending your way...
We never interacted much here, mainly because we frequented different parts of the forum, but by all accounts you're a stand up guy... nobody deserves to go through what you're going through right now, but especially not one liked, respected, and appreciated by many. It has been brought to my attention that you and I are the same age and have been a member of this forum for about as long... wish he had crossed paths more.
Also, although it is important to be realistic, and have one's affairs in order, please, whatever you do, do not give up hope. We as a global society understand very little about cancer in general, and people have gotten to where you're at and made miraculous recoveries. But if it does, god forbid, turn out to be the end of the road, try to stay positive, focus all your energy into those things/people/activities most important to you, and try to remember, that death is nothing to fear. Easy for me to say, I guess, but death is a natural part of life that we will all face one day, that billions upon billions have already faced before us. Once we are gone we will not know we are gone, or what we are missing out on. It will be just like the billions of years before our birth. I am not by any means saying this to try and make light of your situation, but for me at least, the knowledge that death is normal gives me a strange sense of comfort. And as odd as it might sound, try to see this as an opportunity... and opportunity to be driven to do those things you may never have otherwise done, and to say those things to those people that you may never have gotten the chance and/or courage to otherwise say.
In other words, it's not over just yet. But if it is, you can still make it, however long "it" is, count. All the best to you in your fight. Godspeed... I am honored to have been able to share this blip in time with you.
