Yep, looks pretty good assuming it turns out as good as the render. But yes, the original was a little better.

It's on a side street so it really won't be that visible unless you're nearby. It's surrounded by other towers of similar heights in the area. the Entertainment District is turning into a sea of 40-50 story condo towers with a possible Super Tall on the horizon.

What I liike about all these proposals and new residential towers going up around the Entertainment District in Toronto is not only will the skyline change and improve but the "city-life" and "urban feel" will be much more exciting. Toronto, although being a big city, used to feel very dead and sleepy anywhere downtown or around the CN Tower. Now, with more and more permanent residents living in the area, it's getting much livelier. More restaurants, more shops, more people walking the streets, just all around a better urban feel for DT!

How wow, somehow I never realised that was the location the new holiday inn was going. I know I ranted about how much I hated it but I really don't mind it that much now. That area is currently so ugly it's almost impossible to harm it and anything that will fill those parking lots is an improvement. Honestly I don't think that area is ever going to look good so that's the perfect place to built something ugly.

This area will look good in I'd say 10 years or less. By that time all of the ugly parking lots from Crescent to Guy will be filled out. This area is currently ugly because it is a void, but with the Roccabellas, the Icones, the YULs and the HI (and eventually the lots further west), this area will be kicking. Rene-Levesque needs a make-over though, like new sidewalks, new street furniture.

Well I'm not crazy about the design of Rocabella, I HATE the design of Cité du Commerce, not found of Holiday Inn, and several other buildings in the area I either dislike or an unsure about. But I suppose I can reserve judgment for decade or so lol.

That Holiday Inn belongs in a place like North York CC.

Yes I should have been more specific and specified Rene Levesque between Drummond and Guy rather than "the area" as there are lots of other buildings in the wider area but not right on that street. Out of the ones right on RL, I sort of like (or at least not dislike) Babylone and Icone but dislike the rest of the new and most of the existing buildings.

But overall, it will definitely be MUCH better.

IIRC, that older design was from the prelimary stage long before Noir went to market. Noir and 87 Peter are the same.

Some of these North York designs are nice, but Hullmark Centre looks soooooo dull IMO.
