Reports out of Winnipeg city hall that EPC today is likely to pass a motion requesting the Province finally take long overdue action on Gunn Rd at the Perimeter with traffic lights in the short term and to put it on the list of a full grade separation. With the current eyes on safety on the Perimeter this is really long overdue as it something with the Pipeline situation to grade separate that location.

Ya, the City wants to ask the Province to put lights in. I don't see why this wouldn't be approved. All they're doing is asking.

^^ The Perimeter is a provincial road. The city can't do anything directly about it other than submitting formal requests for changes.

That's what I said. The City is asking the Province.

Here is the most recent report from the Province (Oct 2018) that outlines what will happen in 2019.

I wonder if relocation to Oak Bluff is possible.

Unfortunately I can’t read the full story because of subscription.

^ The culture of acceding to every trivial request for direct expressway access needs to end. Sometimes Manitoba Infrastructure just needs to say "Yes, we realize it's a slight inconvenience, but in the interests of safety and efficiency, your staff and customers will have to drive the extra kilometre or two to access your business from a local route."

The Perimeter can't remain stuck in 1962 forever because some guy decided to build his business on the cheap in a rural municipality somewhere.

Bingo. People should have seen this coming when they built off a major (soon-to-be) freeway.

For example, in Ontario, between Barrie and Gravenhurst, once Highway 11 is to be expanded from 4 to 6 lanes, every property abutting the highway will be gone.

people need to consider the fact that the south perimeter is actually a highway of national significance and not some rural trunk highway anymore. the article makes the guy sound like a spoiled brat.

Most vets locate in rural areas because their biggest business is farm animals. Locating on the "border" between the city and country is about best place for this business.

True, but there is no way you can expect direct access to remain in place forever on a major divided highway.

Where is this guy located? Directly off the Perimeter or off a service road? This is just basic highway stuff.

The exit from the highway goes straight into the driveway but it does go past a service road on the way. Sounds like the access is still there form the highway just the median was closed.

I see where he's. 8092 PTH 100.

There's a service road. Should close access to the highway altogether and they can use the service road from Oak Bluff. Again, these are highway basics. People are just spoiled little brats, which someone may have mentioned already.

As for the complaint about heavy traffic from his customers, why don’t they pressure MI to build (or prioritize building) the overpass at Highway 3 (McGilivray), the interchange at Highway 2 and another one at Highway 330 already?
