It’s really kinda sad walking around the plaza and realizing they got floors one and two mixed up, and 80% of the plaza-facing commercial will be banking. Grocery the only interesting thing there. The market and LC would have been much better off on the main floor. Put ACU above.

They really did. That upper level is totally out of sight, out of mind for me. I haven't set foot in the food hall or LC once.

It is disappointing that there are no store fronts in the square. Really what's the point if it's just banks.

I know they're trying to get the same license for the plaza that The Forks has for the outdoor Common now. That'll be a far walk from the bar haha.

The CRU at Graham & Carlton is going to be a cafe. Considering that block of Graham is mostly blank walls until/if they fill in the Powerhouse parking area with retail. Should have put the ACU tellers there with offices above.

If anything, having "inactive" storefronts facing the plaza will just invite more challenges and non-customers (to be PC) to loiter there, or be more obvious as less people would be hanging around in general.

the lc location is bizarre. everyone here loves the pedways tho.. Just wait til all the retail downtown is in them and the outside storefronts are abandoned. downtown is big enough as it is, adding a bunch of interior retail is a nightmare for walkability and streetlife.

“Loitering” or as most places call it, “people enjoying urban life and each other’s company.” I know you’re just repeating the anti human lines of the right type of loiterers for our gated downtown, though.

There is a street level Lake of the Woods vendor/retail operation of some sort that opens onto Carlton. Not sure when it opened, but it was open as I walked by today.

They could also boost security, reduce loitering & give retailers serious exposure to foot traffic, by not designing it to be impossible for people to find the retail stores & spending money on ACTUAL security... lol i wasn't aware Chipman was a cheapskate, when it comes to security. Especially considering how security is up the ass, at the MTS Centre, right across the street. Just seems like a bad idea, considering the "success" of hidden away and non-visible retail and hospitality venues, in Downtown Winnipeg...

Why don't we just gut CityPlace, put all the retail and food on the top floor, and replace everything below it with Autopac & welfare offices while we're at it?!?! I mean, if he can't afford a few security guards, or offer discounts to WPS in TNS in order to unofficially secure the property, then whats the point of "deterrment" if Chipman is unwilling to waste nickels & dimes on actual security, on his precious little block of high rises & bourgeois establishments?

The worst part about it is for some reason the entire skywalk is a blank white wall with the tiny LC at the end. It'd be more acceptable if the whole skywalk was retail, but the setup is horrible.

Yeah, doesn't front the plaza though. It opened a couple weeks after the market, was just a bit behind.

Foot traffic? What are you talking about? More likely those hotel guests will be ordering from Skip and watching pornos on the television.
