Washington County has eliminated homeless encampments
By Nicole Hayden | The Oregonian/OregonLive

Washington County leaders say they have achieved what many communities throughout the country are working to do: eliminate homeless encampments.

Using their share of the tri-county area’s Metro homelessness services tax, intended to fund supportive housing, shelter, eviction prevention and behavioral health care, they built a homelessness services system from the ground up.

It appears that the proposed In-N-Out location at 10565 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy has been approved.

Portland-area In-N-Out Burger back from the dead
By Lizzy Acker | The Oregonian/OregonLive

Don’t count jumping on TriMet to get a Double Double out just yet. An application by In-N-Out Burger that was denied in 2022 has been approved conditionally by Washington County.

While many in the neighborhood are concerned about the traffic a new In-N-Out would cause, the application was originally denied on a zoning issue – the area that In-N-Out hoped to develop was partially located on land where a drive-thru is not allowed.

Nike to lay off 740 employees at world headquarters in Beaverton

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Nike plans to lay off 740 employees at its world headquarters in Beaverton by June 28, according to a notice the footwear and apparel giant sent to state officials. Big crane on the Jay Street and 158th development site behind Costco that has been delayed for at least 5 years.

I spoke with the City of Hillsboro about a week and a half ago. Jollibee is still in the permitting phase and it is still moving forward.

Went to Reeds Crossing last weekend because one my friends is looking at a townhouse there. The establishments going into Reeds Crossing Town Center are game changing. Joining Market of Choice are Shake Shack, Chimcking, Insomnia Coffee, et. al.

I can picture Reeds as another Cedar Hills Crossing. TV Highway Corridor will need "high-capacity transit" sooner than later.

Am I missing something? That link talks about an apartment building, not a food cart pod. Also seems like it'd be a crappy location for one: small, and Farmington is a really noisy road to put something like that near.

My fault. That was for the Cedar Hills Apts. They asked for a 2-year extension.

Correct one:

I know the overhead is comparatively low to brick and mortar restaurants, but I am surprised by the sheer amount of food cart pods proliferating. No sooner than one opens, another is planned.

For example, Hillsboro Station just opened within the last year or so and now there's one that just finished construction on the site of the old Weil Arcade that burned down on Main Street. Not sure how the market can support so many, especially with a lot of people still working remotely and just the cost of eating out these days. I know my family has cut back on eating out because it's impossible for us to not spend at least $70 for two adults and two kids. Throw in a couple beers and you're easily spending a C-note anymore. I know higher prices are the new reality, but I just can't wrap my head around most meals costing $17 or more, at even fast casual establishments.
