They have poured footings for the Pier 8 Promenade Park steel ship hull structures. You can kind of get a feel for the size and shape of the future promenade. It certainly is taking a long time but at least something is happening. Could this be the busiest construction summer Hamilton has experienced in decades?

Any new cranes expected to pop up soon? Right now we have the Cobalt Luxury Residences, Apex Condos and 366-368 King Street West. Am I missing any?

Right, let me think about which ones are up...

- 2 at King & Hughson (Cobalt)

- 2 at King & Queen (Platinum and whatever Vrancor's is called)

- 1 at King Willy & Jarvis (KIWI)

- I think Main & Walnut still has theirs up (also Vrancor)

- Did they take down the 2 on Charlton?

- The one on Ottawa Street is down by now right?

The Charleton ones are down now.

There are a bunch in Stoney Creek as well as a few in Waterdown as well if you want to count those.

There's 1 or 2 on Queenston Rd. just past Centennial, though that's technically Stoney Creek (not like you could tell)

altogether there's nearly 10? It's certainly not a meager number

Unless they have taken one down the Kiwi site has two.

my count of cranes in Hamilton:
2- Cobalt

2 - Kiwi

1 - Platinum

1 - Vrancor Hotel @ Queen St.

1 - Vrancor Hotel @ Main & Walnut

2(?) - L3wescam building in Waterdown

3- Trend Living Waterdown

1 - new retirement home at Garth and Rymal

1 - The Jackson (East Hamilton)

1 - Casa De Torre Stoney Creek (Hwy 8 & Grays)

1 - CoMo Condos Stoney Creek (Fruitland & QEW)

Total: 16. I'm not sure if the two at L3Wescam are still up though, so it might be 14.

Several are likely to be added in 2021. Here's my guess as to what we'll see then:

1 - Vrancor Apartments (Queen st. and King)
1 - King St. W. apartment block at Paradise Rd.
2 - McMaster Student Res
1 - McMaster Graduate Student Res
1 - Trend Condos next phase
1 - 153 Wilson Ancaster
1 - new Vrancor Hotel on Upper James
1 - Muse condos Stoney Creek
1 - 5 Hamilton Condos (Waterdown)

I would upvote RC3 and think we might see the surprise at 75 James South (if Liuna involved), and while a bit smaller, Core Urban's Augusta project I think will get off the ground

Let's hope so, the shops, restaurants and bars in Corktown would seriously benefit.

I saw this yesterday. Damn! They're moving quickly on this. A pleasant surprise for sure. Also noticed as I rode home lazily through the Pier 8 property that the curved ship hull pieces have been delivered to the site. I'm super excited for this to ramp up.

I've heard the park areas will hopefully be open by July. Let's hope they stay on schedule because a new park by the waterfront will be great. They can't start soon enough on the pier developments too. The good sized heights and cozy street grid will bring a much needed atmosphere to the waterfront parks.

We took a drive through the Pier 8 lands last week. The size of that property is so much more apparent now with the road network in place, and being able to see the width of the promenade in person.

I drove by the site today, demolition hasn’t even begun yet. The old strip plaza is still there with tenants. Perhaps you are thinking of the crane for CoMo condos at Fruitland Rd. Muse is at Green Rd.

I drove through the new Pier 8 lands this week as well, the roads are all open now for driving but don’t have sidewalks. Really surprised me actually since they service absolutely nothing.

I'd think sidewalk concrete will be poured (or whatever walkway paving is planned) once the buildings are up.

I have to imagine this isn't true. They'll likely do some sidewalks with the expectation that the developments redo them when built because the Pier 8 lands aren't being developed all in one shot, they're being developed over like 15 years+
