Thanks for posting. I am liking the right turn only in a few locations. Also to answer your question about the "at grade" intersections. I will suspect that these will just be stop signs with acceleration lanes. I am also curious to see the new layout of the Dewdney / Hub road interchange. It says ramps only off the north side of the dewdney. I hope this means something similar to this.

https://www.google.ca/maps/@53.43674.../data=!3m1!1e3

But am a definitely happy that there will be a service interchange at 9th North! And only right turns at Pinky / Hill Ave

Another thing. Looks like this will be 4-lane divided along the whole route. Function drawings will confirm this. But one can only hope that it will be. More $$$ but better for safety especially when City / Truck traffic are both being accommodated.

One more thing that needs clarification are the rail grade seperation. I know that the CP is already being done. But what about the two CN Lines in the NW that will need to be crossed?

Frankslake Rd. to White Butte is already a fully paved connector. Perhaps a slight re-alignment at #1 is all that is required.

So do those right-turn only intersections prohibit cross-traffic? They'd essentially be interchanges without an overpass, just on- and off-ramps? Seems like an acceptable solution. That leaves just two full at-grade intersections, and I can sort of understand Armour Road. But Courtney Street??? That would come out if it was up to me.

I believe the long-term plan for an outer, outer bypass has it head south from the terminus of Hwy 46. It would cross 48.

Does anyone know what could potentially go in in the space between Tower Road and the Bypass? It looks like there's about 800m between Tower Road and the tracks. Surely that won't all be taken up by the Bypass. Potential commercial development?

I believe Tower Road is designated as a service road for the bypass. So yes, commercial would be my guess.

I'm anticipating (in a positive way) where this project will be one year from now.

Honestly, I don't think you'll see too much physical activity in one year. They would really have to accelerate the land acquisitions.

Appraisals are close to being done and meetings with offers are supposed to be scheduled soon. They are also going to be out doing soil sampling and hydrovacing over pipelines to find exact locations according to a phone call I got today.

Confirmation of 4-lane of entire route.

Project Description

The bypass plan features new roads, service roads and overpasses that will make traveling around Regina faster and safer. A twinned highway begins at Highway 11 northwest of Regina, and continues south to Highway 1.

The bypass route runs approximately 5 km south of Highway 1, past Tower Road, before re-connecting with Highway 1 on the east of Regina. The project will also include three overpasses at Pilot Butte Access Road, Highway 48 at White City, and Highway 46 at Balgonie.

The contractor, once selected, will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the project over a 30-year period. Construction of the bypass is anticipated to take three and a half years and the P3 model is expected to deliver the project on time and on budget.

3.5 years is MOST expedient!!! (And hard to believe!)

Watch out for an all-out invasion of earth moving equipment in the Regina area!

Their actual report also claims that all three of the White City/Pilot Butte/Balgonie interchanges will be done summer 2017. So it'll be opening in sections.

Correct, looks like the entire thing however should be opened by 2018. Which will be awesome! And Stage 2 of the West bypass is nearly complete.

Stage 3 would appear to be "bypassed" pun intended, and stages 4 (4 being increased to 4-lane entire distance) and 5 be done concurrently.

If they are to meet the 2018 schedule. I hope this includes Overpasses at both CN rail lines (Moose Jaw sub and Craik Sub)

Cost Estimate of the Bypass:
Base cost provided by Gov't of Saskatchewan = $1.2B
Numbers based on previous construction costs from comparable structures. Example Lewvan Highway 1 (Service Interchange = $35M)

Systems Interchange at Highway 11 = $50M-75M
4-Lane Bridge over CN Craik Sub = $10M-15M
At Grade (All-turns) intersection at Armour Road = $5M
Overpass (Service Interchange) at 9th North = $35M
4-Lane Bridge over Wascana Creek = $10M
4-Lane Bridge over CN Moose Jaw Sub = $10M-15M
Overpass (Service Interchange) at Dewdney = $35M
Systems Interchange at Hub Access Road = $50M-75M
4-Lane Bridge over CP Main Line = Completed
Systems Interchange at Trans-Canada Highway West = $75M-100M
At Grade (All-turns) intersection at Courtney = $5M
Overpass (Service Interchange) at Highway 6 = $35M
4-Lane Bridge over Wascana Creek = $10M
Right Turn only Access to Highway at Fleet Street = $5M
Overpass (Service Interchange) at Highway 33 = $35M
Systems Interchange at Trans-Canada Highway East = $75-100M
Overpass (Service Interchange) at Great Plains Road = $35M
Overpass (Service Interchange) at Highway 48 = $35M
Overpass (Service Interchange) at Highway 46 = $35M

Total for Overpasses and Bridges (Maximum) = $660M
Total for Kilometers of 4-Lane Highway at $2M/km = $100M
Total for Additional Lanes at $1M/km = $5M
Land Acquisition = $150-200M

Estimation Total = $960M
Contingency Estimate = $240M

I'm more curious as to what they'll name the bypass lol. Since we got a plethora of approved names for streets, I'm sure there is a few that would be perfect to name portions of the bypass, or the entire thing altogether.

Maple Valley Green Grove Greens Heights F.W. Hill Memorial Expressway.

Combine all the crappy generic names the city/developers go with nowadays with the absurd long memorial names that are also popular for no good reason, and throw in some patronage to the Hills also for no reason.
