Today 1-7: Not much to report other than glass seems to have caught up to fireproofing.

This is a screen grab from my instagram story (terrible image quality). I realized the sun hit Sears perfectly so I went back to take a picture and I was a couple of minutes too late.

Chef José Andrés and Gibsons to Launch New Dining Destination With Multiple Venues at 110 North Wacker Drive

The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) and Riverside Investment and Development announced today that José Andrés' ThinkFoodGroup, together with Chicago's own Gibsons Restaurant Group, has signed a 17,200-square-foot lease at 110 North Wacker Drive, the new trophy-class office tower in downtown Chicago. The group will be opening a veritable dining destination with multiple concepts, including a fine dining restaurant and an elevated cocktail bar experience, as well as providing catering for the building's 10,000-square-foot event space.

^That's certainly welcome news! The options for the public are going to be great in this tower. I'm looking forward to the Penthouse "Club".

Should we assume this Gibsons eatery will be located in the North low-rise wing?

Or will the elevated cocktail bar be "elevated"?

ummmm...this is amazing news! I had read the Andrés was wanting to open someplace in Chicago. Him and Gibson Group (their restaurants have the best service) makes me very excited. Way more excited than this building, which frankly, is a boring on the Wacker side.

I don't like the round enclosures at all but upon a second look I wonder if they aren't in a way functional. Perhaps something to do with ice and /or the proximity to the river?

That's a good observation, Kolchak. Yea, round may very well be more functional to the environs/weather.

^ Yes piece by piecee. The red crane is called a derrick crane. It then gets disassembled into very small sections and sent down the skip hoist.

Looking at the webcam, the tower crane is all but gone. Just the cab portion remains.

Also, only 4.5 floors of glass install remaining. This project flew!

Skyscrapercenter has it listed at 1.77 million sqft GFA. Interesting comparison for non-NYC office buildings recently built: the new Salesforce tower in SF is listed at 'only' 1.40 million sqft GFA. Gives an idea of how girthy 110 Wacker is. And 4th in Chicago after Willis, Aon, and Chase.
