In the WSP website, it says construction was to start in late 2019 on the 1st segment. Either way, thanks for posting those links again.

In Ontario, MTO has now archived the 2017-2021 plan as it was published by the previous government and is to be referred to for "archival and research purposes":

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/hig...programs.shtml

It appears that the current government is going to releasing regional transportation plans. The first one, covering Southwestern Ontario, came out recently:

Pretty sure that died when Pallister was elected much like the HWY 15 relocation project died when Doer was elected.

Please don’t tell me MIT sold the land protected for it too... Otherwise we really are looking at tearing down houses along Portage Avenue through Headingley and putting the interchange modification on hold...

Headingley Bypass is still in play just like St Norbert bypass. It just hasn't been public like the South Perimeter Study because it's basically figured out.

The thing is the funding. It's permanently on hold like everything else because the Province is not spending money on anything.

Regarding the land, I don't think they actually have the land. It's mostly farmers fields. Not sure if the Province has placed any restrictions on the corridor.

^^ That land would mostly be deemed agricultural. Sure some farmer could build a one off house, barn or other out building in the way of the planned route but they would still need to apply for a permit at which point the province could step in and stop it.

My understanding is the bulk of the Headingley bypass is not currently owned which is why it had gone to public study before getting iced.

As part of the original study they could've negotiated options to purchase with the land owners.

I'm reposting from the other thread because I've included the design of PTH 1 & Perimeter Highway as well. No, MIT, a bigger loop won't work. Let me know if anything's missing.

They really can't cancel it though because the interchange is sitting there at CCW waiting for completion.

That perimeter project is cool.

What I would really like to see is the entire length of Bishop Grandin and Lag turn into a freeway.

Yes, eventually Bishop Grandin should run right across south Winnipeg as an alternative to the south Perimeter. Once it's extended west past route 90, I'm not sure where it's intended to end up, though.

Bishop Grandin will curve northwards and connect to William Clement Parkway. No plans to continue westward. Sterling Lyon/Wilkes is supposed to be upgraded through that area. But it went rogue with their consultant.

It's very Winnipeg that Bishop Grandon and William Clement will link up to create a major route covering southwest and southeast Winnipeg, and all that traffic volume will then end up on Moray Street, a quiet little 50 kmh residential street.

Just as we're getting set to pay a fortune to widen Kenaston through River Heights, we're about to create another Kenaston scenario a few kilometres west...

Yeah honestly. Let's get one road done properly before half assing another road. It's such a bandaid

Much like how Bishop will be extended East then North towards Fermor and then meet Chief Peguis via... Plesis!
