I periodically read this thread. I swear I read a post that this tower is sinking and it costing a small fortunate to stabilize the foundation. I don't know if that's true or not. It would certainly complicate any rehabilitation efforts.
its just been a rumor that someone posted but there has been no substantiation of that or anything of the sort. if it were a real issue id have thought we would have heard more by now! Jaeger wouldnt have bought a leaning tower
The Criminal Court Building is going to be quite attractive once the rest of the work planned is done: pressure washing the stone, and replacing windows and landscaping and lighting

A rumor on an anonymous internet forum? Haha. Glad to hear it's unsubstantiated. I'm hoping it gets rehabilitated soon. The immediate area where this tower is located feels depressed and a hotel/condo would breath some new life, and spur other developments.

Thanks for the info on this.
Well the good news is the owner has it listed on his new website under future developments and the description fits the most likely type of rehab. Also, with the south market wrapping up right there the site is much better situated than it honestly ever has been in its lifespan. Not sure many people know this but the city tried to direct high rise development along Loyola back in the day by bulldozing all the buildings along Loyola in hopes of spurring high rise development over there.. it never panned out at the time and the Plaza Tower ended up out of place because it was the only one built. High-rises instead chose to locate between canal and Poydras... I guess you can say it took almost 50 years for the market to follow what the city intended.
Also, it appears the Convention Center didnt ever publicly post the RFP for the Master Planner for the Convention Center District. However, the due dates for when responses are expected are below. This is from the Feb 19th Convention Center Board Meeting.
What ever happened to that mid rise condo / apartment development that was supposed to be constructed in the 1700 block of canal street on that corner of Canal and S. Claiborne

Speaking of high rises what happened to that rumored 30+ story building that was floating around the forum in June? Any news on that?

This is apparently the old design.
This is new design that was on the signage at the construction site... looks much improved!

The Plaza tower has excess movement(wind) causing issues with windows and weather tightness. It will require a concrete spine to be installed which will eat up a lot of the floor space but as needed to keep it from moving so much. It is however not leaning. This came straight from Joe’s mouth.

That makes sense to me.. plus the plan he announced for it makes sens as well.. also explains that red spine detail in the previous project... that must have been a spine as well
Also here was a schematic master plan for the area around Loylola

Dang that was the master plan and all we got was one tower out of it... I wish we could see some more high rises like what was planned

I wonder if a counterweight would be simpler and cheaper?
