I'm mixed on the Tache condos. Lots of people. Mostly blank streets with nothing happening.

Good news about Provencher. Any action on the burnt out junk yard?

They're tearing down Dwarf No Cachette this summer in preparation for the development of that corner.

correct, currently grass/bush and bodyshop. will be similar design, height/size to Vue, mostly 2 bed 2 bath, thats what sells in the area.

That development won't replace the garage that burnt down a couple years ago. It is only for the 2 buildings and the empty lot next door.

I haven't paid attention lately, but IIRC most of the scrap cars on the corner lot were moved at least.

Haven't posted here in forever but popped in to see if there was any news about Aubert.

The bodyshop at the corner of Aubert and St. Joseph is being torn down this week.

(I moved out of Sky Waterfront and into Vue Tache in November - guess I have to update my location on SSP)

Is this really an improvement for the neighbourhood though?
https://www.google.com/maps/@49.8948...6656?entry=ttu

Blank walls along the whole street? Yes nice new buildings, residents, "progress". But it's really stale and boring. At least the section across the tracks near whitter park with the houses has people on the streets and such.

It's going to end up a big neighbourhood of seniors living in condos with no street presence.

I always thought that whole waterfront stretch should should have been mixed use. Bars, restaurants, businesses and what not. Taché and the park across the street have so much potential.

100% it's better! not sure what "blank walls" mean, I see suites. places where people live. and FYI these are not senior apartments. Provencher is suited for retail, restaurants and bars. ***NEWSFLASH*** even they are struggling! some are closed, some are for sale, some are struggling

you like this look?

Like this, for possibly the whole block depending upon the new buildings design.
https://www.google.com/maps/@49.8950...6656?entry=ttu

Not ideal in my books.

I kinda like it. Beats the shit out of majority sheet metal. At least in that example it was used to a minimum and blends in well.

I’ll take Hardee over sheet metal all day.

Agreed. I also don't think every new residential build in every location in the city need ground floor retail. It's simply not practical.

Nah, I'm not after retail or anything fancy. Some buildings attempt to have a ground level interaction of some kind. Some work, some don't. This is a block wall ffs. haha I'm assuming the parkade is below ground so this is what you get.

I also am not opposed to the gentrification of this area. It's great to have new development. But block walls for the entire block is not great. The planters are nice.

I'm yelling at clouds here.

Well, she should open a tenderloin cart on the sidewalk for some street level interaction!

No, you're not. The design has lazy street interaction. They should have added more walk-ups, and spaces for private gardens near the street.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of the design, this building on waterfront does a much better job at interacting with the street with a purely residential front: https://www.google.ca/maps/@49.89903...8192?entry=ttu

So many better ways to approach this instead of the current walled off feel.

Also the street should be totally reworked imo, making it into more of a public space to represent the density that's now there.

My point is. In this residential neighbourhood, there is no action on the street. It's walled off from where the people are. To Peg's point, it's lazy.

At least having some type of ground level walk-up would make it feel more like a neighbourhood.

I love that all the run down places are being replaced. But like I said, not ideal IMO.
