I'm not really sure how this increases security. That was the reasoning. You have peoples names, sure. But I think a bunch of people will get tickets and not show up. Meanwhile other people cant get it who actually want to be there. We'll see how it goes.

Seems like sensible crowd control. I'd guess that max 10% of people won't show up so they're still well over 20,000. For sure there will be scalpers trying to make a buck, but I doubt that will have a high success rate.

The problem is what happens next if 50,000 people want to do something...add a second party at the Forks? Old Market Square?

Kevin Donnelly said in an interview a few weeks ago that TN/EDW/CoW already have contingency plans in place for rounds 3 and 4 if they want to close off Portage as well, and WPS is on board.

Surprised they wouldn't do it yet, but maybe they just need more planning time.

Closing off Graham AND Portage.

Let's hope that the Jets can do for the opposing teams what this will do for Winnipeg Transit users.

Probably move the buses up to Ellice for the Portage based routes. Going to be slow if the vehicle traffic moves there too.

Meh, a few hours on a single day. We can handle it.

Exactly. It's not like this is happening every week all year.

If anything, WT/CoW should use it as a study to see if busses should be moved to two-ways on St. Mary, and Graham made ped/bike only

if this becomes a yearly problem it means the Jets are regularly making deep playoff runs which I as much as i'd like I can't see happening lol

also - when the jets clinched the playoffs in 2015 there was a party at P&M that closed down the street. This year when jets clinched the playoffs there was almost no one there lol. (which is fair as we kind of knew it was coming this time - but still thought people would be more energetic about it).

Quite presumptuous to say it but I think if Jets make regular playoff runs these parties won't have 10,000+ at them - this year is pretty special for the city. If this follows in coming years the logistics should be easier to handle.

??? The Jets aren’t going to make a long playoff run every year. But when they do, people are going to come out in numbers.

Is it possible to get rid of the one way streets and make Graham almost traffic free? Police only.

Amen.

I have a tiny hope that the Jets will inspire more interest and investment downtown. Because right now, they are bringing LIFE to it.
