Is the ugliest, most soul-sucking strip plaza in the world?

My soul has been sucked right out of my body. That is the most depressing and lifeless urban landscape I have ever seen. Irkutsk would be more cheery and welcoming.

Funny enough streetview lets you go right up to the buildings:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

https://www.google.com/maps/@42.9995...7i13312!8i6656

In fact you can tour the whole parking lot including the used car dealer.

I don't think I've ever seen streetviews in parking lots before.

Calgary's answer to Toronto's subdivisions of the 1980s, featured in the song by the same name (great soundtrack for soul-sucking environments):

Wow. you took something horrible, and found an even more horrible way to see it!

What is up with those shitty fly-by-night used car dealerships? That fucking tacky metallic ribbon crap flapping in the fetid breeze of shitpickertown?

In that last one, when I panned around I caught sight of the repeating roofline of this house. Then it took me a moment more, but I noticed the little drama of the Man Atop the Roof.

What's he doing up there? Is he a de-cloaked Superhero? A roofer on lunch who noticed Google driving by and played a little "You filming me? I'm filming you!!"? Or just some dude hanging out like he always does, watching and capturing the traffic flow by while he enjoys the view with his rope and bucket?

Eastown Plaza!

Hard to believe that's in London but at least horrible things like that are confined to East London.

I like how a Value Village didn't last in that building to the right. Now it's Canadian Auto Financing. And the businesses in that plaza:

-Stoner's Grub House: WTF?? must be a classy eating establishment

-nails place (those will open in any awful looking building)

-Closeout Centre (what a name!)

-marijuana smoking accessories store

-furniture and appliances rent to own store: those places should be illegal

-make your own wine, bowling, batting cages...

-FABRICLAND...........FABRICLAND!!!! (I'm singing it like their SOUL-SUCKING ads) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TGGmZvhxeE

Nice catch. It’s like a building with wings. Extra points for the roofer. I was so captivated by those hideous purple signs across the street when I drove by this morning that I missed that.

He was there in August 2015... had vanished by September

But it's the end of one building in a much larger complex. Perhaps he was battling evil elsewhere on the premises... or begetting acts of villainy?

There are 1.5 million stories in the naked city and its soul-sucking suburban parts. This has been one of them.

Hahaha. The naked city? Is it cause of the complete lack of trees in the NE?

I hate the fabric land commercials. They suck your soul straight from your ears.

Man, that stretch of Dundas Street East in London is fugly to the max. That shitty Eastown plaza takes the cake. The bowling alley is shuttered.

Here is the beautiful view from the parking lot:

The google streetview van driver was so astounded by the ugliness, he went and mapped the parking lot too, for posterity.

I'm sure the Gov't of Canada *totally* endorsed the use of their logo on this sign for medical marijuana applications:

I categorically hate these head shops. Always the same crap, always with Bob Marley, always extremely seedy and junky looking.

Legalization will proliferate head shops so be prepared for seedy and junky looking everywhere. I hate what it has done to Washington State.

It was a quote that came to mind from an old TV police drama series, that was based on an even older film. Before my time, but the line reverberated in the comedies of my youth.

And I could be wrong, but I now believe that roof-sitter has moved on to Okotoks. Purely for the number of things to do there.

If you look carefully the font is slightly different BUT there is a marijuana leaf instead of a maple one!

Those "use other door" signs are going to be bad for business. How is someone high on "marihuana" supposed to figure all that out?

I'd really like to know what's happenin' at the Blue Lagoon above... it's "another level" so you know it must be good.

apparently it is an "adult spa" (must be code for rub and tug)

I thought there was only one Blue Lagoon. The one in Mississauga, which has been around forever and kitty corner to Sandman Signature hotel.

If you ever partied at Sugar Daddy's night club down the street, then you've come back to your car with Blue Lagoon ads under your windshield wipers. 95% end up on the ground for some cleaning crew to take care of the next day. Or like in my case, they end up in your car door a couple of times because they decided to put them on the driver's side window and the weather stripping is so loose that it dropped down as soon as I touched it.
