They are probably at their worst for staging. It's still a super dense project at one of the city's busiest intersections. It's never going to go fast.

love the 3 storey construction offices pushed up against Uptown's podium

The walkways are silly and make the space feel cramped. Narrower beams would have been more impressive.

Haha ok, except that it's still really impressive, and will only get more impressive as completion draws near.

Ten storeys of green wall and the spiral staircases. The entire stretch of floors is built tailored for Telus and their desire for greater connectivity and the greenery.

Also of note, the office portion of the building is now 60% leased, and entirely by tech companies so far.

^ Only 422,000 SQ FT of office space in Telus Sky, 130,000 (31%) of which is taken up by Telus. I'm actually surprised that there's still 126,000 SQ FT of space left given that this tower was announced 5-6 years ago. But I guess it kind of coincided with the oil crash which doesn't help. I'm sure it will eventually be leased out fully even with the 25% vacancy rates in YYC. If I was a company I'd prefer to be a nice modern building like this.

Telus Sky is in my top 3 favourite towers to go up in Canada in the past 20 years without a doubt. I want to see it in person once it's all lit up and finished.

Those silly walkways are actually really cool stairs and I'm sure the width was done to code. They'll look great because of how they obstruct the view in different ways depending on where you are walking through the atrium.

Absorb Software just leased 80,000 SF yesterday. The commercial space is 60% committed now.

So those are going to be real plants on that living wall? I suppose it's going to have some kind of automated irrigation system?

As with all living walls, yes.

I've worked in a few offices, all of them modern except for one, but none would be fancy. In my office now they always have like some large, super avant garde bouquets of flowers or plants (real or fake, I can't tell) on the front desk that must cost hundreds of dollars. They change it up like every couple of weeks. I thought that was extravagant.

Right now I can't recall which offices I've been that have living walls. If I did go into one, it probably wasn't impressive enough to capture my attention.

This is the first one I ever came across, at the University of Guelph - Humber when I went there ten years ago.

But living walls are like... everywhere now. I know they're fairly common here at least.

I feel like the trends started back in the 80's and only recently has seen a resurgence. I've been in some older buildings with living walls and you can tell they have been there for a long time, mostly due to the plants used.
