I just got banned from SSC. No reason specified. I wasn't being belligerent...that I know of.

I don't really miss it enough to appeal, though.

I usually just stick to browsing the forums here at SSP because I hate that London's activity is split up between the two forums. It's usually the same news and opinions being posted on SSC so I generally don't learn anything I don't already know.

And as nice as the LoveLondon forum is, I believe it was dead on arrival.

I've been here for almost 10 years and remember the good old days before SSP was broken up into a thousand subsections. We need to consolidate some threads and sections to encourage more posting and activity.

Yeah from one extreme to another eh? Perhaps promoting the site to your friends and whatnot may keep the traffic here more consistent.

Let's hope we don't end up with any Waterlooinvestor-style fanatics....I like enthusiasm but this guy's homerism was off the charts...in spades!!

I mean, the guy totally went apeshit over the whole barrel-yards development, and everytime that RIM ticked up 1 cent on the TSX.

some good times. I just couldn't resist razzing the guy. I recall he spammed the ontario forum with 20 or 30 separate KW-related threads (this before we had the local sections).

WI has vanished (from SSC as well it seems). Is he still stirring the passion at Wonderful waterloo?

I believe with the right training and a sufficient amount of caffeine pills I could be that fanatic.

OK...................U just made a comment on SSC and was informed that I might want to put it here because it's a more active sit. Then I see the new " dead thread".
I couldn't care less which site we prefer but maybe we should consolidate our comments in one particular site? This is what has happened with Cal/Edm which are almost all on SSP and Toronto which is on SSC.
Like I said I don't really care which but if it is this one then we have to get rid of all these stupid subsections.
I think this site should have just 3 subsections:
Economy/Construction, Transportation/Planning, and London Life which would be the catch all for entertainment, shopping, politics, restaurants, nightlife, education etc
Please choose your poison so we can make that there is one very active and easy to use thread.
OK....................let's hear it.

Thumbs up

A London forum on SSP with 3 large sub-sections sounds pretty wonderful to me. Sign me up.

Maybe those of us who post at SkyscraperCity could begin wearing signatures with links to SSP's London Section. Also say that we're hoping to create a more active online London community by grouping us all in one location. I haven't read the rules of SSC, but I'd imagine having a link to these forums wouldn't be advertising so long as it's in our signatures.

I do agree that there are a lot of sections here and some could be merged. I normally just look at the "Latest Active Threads" anyway.

If activity here increases having a more organized structure will be a blessing. I am neither for or against this proposition... I'll let you guys figure that one out .

Tim Best starting another business

From AM980:

Quote:
Meantime, Best is starting another business venture which isn't making poverty activists very happy.

The London Free Press is reporting he's opened a payday loan and cheque-cashing business in the same building as the city's welfare office.

Critics call the business predatory, but Best says he opened it in Market Tower at Dundas and Richmond because it's owned by Shmuel Farhi, the same landlord as his downtown bar.

When asked about the location of the business only steps away from the Ontario Works Office, Best told the Free Press, "It's not the worst location."
The payday loan market is already saturated in London. And we don't need another reason for welfare bums to hang around Dundas and Richmond.

^maybe Best will be his first customer. Shabby guy. The payday loan business ranks among the lowest of the low. Best, may I introduce you to Centretown Pawnbrokers?

WTF? No more top 10 most active threads? What's up with that?

This is not good for the London Forum as there are too many sub-forums and not enough discussion. Having the top 10 was the quickest and easiest way to keep things going.

I too am guilty of using the last-active list, but I'm also kind of happy it's gone. People tend to ignore the forums themselves and just browse the handful of active threads.

We should focus on getting someone to merge and streamline the forums like we had talked about a few months ago. We wouldn't really need the top 10 if there are only a couple forums to browse. That would probably boost activity in older threads as well.

Anyone here even know who to get in contact with moderator-wise? I rarely venture outside of our local so I don't know many people aside from you losers.
