We need more of these theatres coming back to life or even new ones to be built. Theatres that play the new blockbuster titles too. I love independent and art house cinema, but I also want to see the bigger budgeted movies sometimes.

SoOoOooOo mister.. is that a hint that you might ohh I dunno, build an old style opera house sometime in the future at maaaybe one of the old locations..? Like maaaybe the capital theatre location? *wink wink*

That would be a great complement to the royal connaught - the capital connaught theatre

image of the old theatre interior that used to be behind the entrance

this is the entrance to the palace theatre that was farther down the street, it's like a sushi place or something now - completely demolished unfortunately. The capital theatre interior was similar however.

IMO, an opera house or grande theatre is the one thing that should NEVER be fully modernized - amenities, equipment, yes, but not the architecture - it's about classiness, prestige and opulence - and one should go all out in that aspect. Modernized theatres just feel so.. lackluster.

I am saddened by these images... so many great spaces and buildings taken down in the 60s 70s in the Hammer , never to see light of day again.

Also these are the 2 closest resembling capitol theatre comparisons for ours that still survive in the states:

Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY

as well as

Capitol Theatre in Yakima, WA

And here was the capitol theater in windsor ontario:

As well a sthe palace theater interior a block over from the capitol theater:

Also found this image:
