Not a great picture, but here's Ottawa's Escarpment District and CBD. A cluster of three curvy towers, two going up on that pic, one in excavation, will change the traditional skyline significantly.

From the current Civic Hospital. We can see the lone tower at LeBreton. That gap should fill up quite well by the end of the decade.

Great pictures Coastalkid!! Might just be the best Halifax collection we’ve seen here in a long time. Funny that some of the best city/skyline pics come from real estate sites, they edit their pics to boost brightness and saturation and it really looks good when it comes to city pics. Nice density and variety in those shots - beautiful. As for ‘one of these things is not like the other’ - that newer suburban mid-rise commie block neighbourhood is rather nasty. Should have at least varied the height and finishing.

Hey Rico - what’s the round building under construction in a couple of the pictures you posted to Flickr tonight? Looks like a mini Apple Headquarters, or that circular Japanese elementary school with the interior courtyard. But I’m guessing it’s neither.

This is a new STM bus maintenance centre. Looks like the Indian parliament in Delhi.

This project will cost over 600 million by the time it's finished, over double the original budget

That's insane! Just from looking at it you wouldn't think that's the cost of the structure. I'm intrigued to find out more though. It's a cool looking structure. Just from a quick search Montreal announced in 2017 it planned to build a new $254-million bus garage called the Bellechasse Transport Centre, to replace the nearby St-Denis Transport Centre, built in 1957. Is it actually over by $350 million? Somebody made a lot of money from this bit of infrastructure.

He may be away from the forum for a bit as there will be an organized crime funeral to take photos of soon, but he'll probably have to trek out to St-Jean-sur-Richelieu to take them.

As per usual, many reasons contributed to this. The first one is that the plan have changed from the original plan in order to make the garage underground and build a park above it. Then there was many engineering issues that were not predicted, among them the fact that the ground where it is build is more brittle than expected and they had to reinforce the structure. Then there was the pandemic and the rising construction costs, plus the decision to make the garage a 100% adapted to electric buses, etc.

It is still too expensive, but at least it will be great. Stay positive :-)

Ya those are a lot of factors that would explain the costs, without knowing that the visible structure looks very unassuming and you would never guess that to be the price tag from what you see. It seems like it will be a positive change though for the neighbourhood.
