The builders of a $300-million mega-project at River Landing marked a milestone for a complex many thought would never happen.

“I was one of those who was skeptical,” Mayor Charlie Clark said to the people gathered atop the first of two office towers on Tuesday. “This is going to define our city well into the future.”

Tuesday’s “topping” ceremony entailed pouring concrete to mark the completion of the top floor.

The smaller of two office towers is expected to be completed by November. The Alt Hotel on the site known as Parcel Y opened last month and the condo tower is slated to open this year.

The way I see it is, quality projects like this push the mark for a city. Saskatoon had nothing like this before, in regards to its quality, mix of uses, density, and urban format. Saskatoon's future is very exciting, it's a very forward thinking city with a lot of positivity. Very excited to see this complete, and hopefully the effects it may have on future development

I totally agree. And its already having an effect: e.g., the upscale Escala project, and the UC Broadway project, which I think will be more upscale than No1 RL.

Anyway, since we're on a new page...

Went by today and noticed that people have moved into the second floor. Also it appears that there will be a brick planter or something in front of the condo.

I was also very surprised to see "For Lease" signs in the southeast CRU. I thought for sure it would have been snapped up!

Finally, I tried to get a look into the Nutrien Tower pit but its just impossible to get a close. Its unfortunate because I really enjoyed stopping by to watch the progress on the last two parkades.

I thought the same thing when I ran by yesterday....thought of ripples on the water...maybe the river was the inspiration! Regardless, I also really liked the effect.

If you look at the picture in post 1578 you can see that some more fins have been added to the NW corner of the building.

I agree the fins look awesome!

Also, there are glass fins on the inside of the structural glass in the two-storey lobby area. They are at a straight taper rather than wavy, though.

I wasn’t a fan of the name No 1 either, but there’s nothing we can do. They could have ugly towers and good name!

April 12 Pictures:

It can't be seen from the webcam, but they have started installing the metalwork for the large "wintergarden" (or whatever its called) on the 13th floor of the east tower.

The Atrium (?) on top of the office tower is now up. This sure make it very close to the same height as the condo.

That 13th floor atrium/winter garden will be a very unique and cool feature to the Saskatoon skyline. I hope that it is open to the public to enjoy and not just tenants of the office tower.

A nice restaurant up there would be awesome!!

I really think those fins on the office building are a great design element. Depending on the angle you view the building from, they have different effects on the reflections. I am really liking this building.
