CHONGQING | International Financial Center | 431 m / 1414 ft | 102 floors

One of a number of supertalls in the works for Chongqing. Construction has been on-hold for a couple of years now though. Should be good looking tower if and when it does get built.

Stunning! This must get built.

those pics are of the deconstruction? or is that of the tower?

I've actually seen this in person but wasn't sure if it was going down or going up, since there wasn't any activity. ....

This is a beautiful skyscraper.

It adds to the skyscraper instead of dominating it (ala Burj Dubai). It makes every building around it look better.

Hope this gets built.

Oh my goodness, that project is so DEAD...

The paper also reported that the city is to make another attempt to build "the tallest building in western China," this time with the Chongqing International Financial Center, which is expected to be 500 meters in height and have 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) in investment.

New Design.

The existing floors that were built before the project came to a halt are being demolished - a new and fresh start.

Two different claddings on each side of the building. I'm not sure if the idea is brillant or disturbing.
Is the height still 431 m ?

Perklol Mar 10, 2014 1:23 PM

Really liking the new design. Why is is that all cities in China(?) have a gloomy appearance in photos? Is there a pollution problem??

toxteth o'grady Mar 10, 2014 1:41 PM

There is a pollution problem or what. Smog so bad that sometimes they can't land planes at the airport.

And some of it has drifted across the Pacific Ocean to this country, so now we can list air pollution as a Chinese import.

Perklol Mar 10, 2014 1:45 PM

Too bad.

I guess they won't see be able to see the building at its full height with pollution.

Slightly different version of the new design.

I actually really like that first design. It's like across between the Willis Tower, the old World Trade Center and the Williams Tower.

I thought the same thing. Reminds me a lot of the Willis tower.

Sooooo which one is the Chinese boss gonna pick?

They will decide on a whim and they will wait until the foundation is practically dug. Then we will get a random surprise!

So many different options. All look nice, but only one will rise! :crazy2:

scalziand Sep 4, 2014 3:08 AM

^They already started building one design, and then decided to tear it down, and start over.
