its unlikely as the Arab iraq i still going through war , daily bombs go off , the ministries still have not been assigned cos of the conflict between shia and the sunnis .
but this region has been safe 1991 uprising and the no-fly-zone did the trick and kept it safe till 2003 and then officially it became an autonomous region in 2005.
cos its safe thats why it is booming while the rest of iraq is still a war torn . it even has its own borders with the rest of iraq . its like a a different country within a country , and its working on separating from a war torn country it was only attached to iraq in 1923 anyway .
