That was my thought today as well.

BTW, the thread title says 34 stories, but the Tishman Speyer website says 33. Also, I counted 33 today up to the level just under what I assume is the crown. Not a big deal, but someone might want to fix that.

^^^It's been 2 months now since I walked past it, but I'm pretty sure I remember the sign out front saying 34 stories. But the thing is topped out as far as the occupiable floors. Somebody count 'em (except the first floor is equivalent in height to 2 so we will still end up with controversy).

Counting the first level as one floor, I count 33 floors total. In these scenarios, do they count the first large "floor" as two levels? Or are they counting the roof as a floor here?

It's so lame not to have a 13th floor--I respect buildings that have one. With today's cultural diversity, this makes no sense. Four is the number representing death to many Asians--do we want to start skipping that number too? Other cultures have different "unlucky" numbers.

Many hotels used to skip the number 13 on hotel rooms also (e.g. - 411, 412, 414). I admired the old Pan Pacific Hotel (now the JW Marriott) which did neither and actually has a room 1313.

Glass delivery. Looks like all corner pieces. Perhaps the strange install pattern has to do with manufacturing?

So they've decided to exclude the ol' 13th floor I see. I guess count-wise, we were right, we just didnt know the floor by floor plan, thanks for posting that SFView .

Although having nothing to do with 555 Mission, The Living Shangri-La Hotel in Vancouver, when finished, will have its 4th and 13th floor missing.

My pleasure! I didn't want us to suffer another almost endless One Rincon Hill height mystery. Rather than misunderstood verbal explainations, I would rather let the drawings speak for themselves. With the help of Dan in Chicago regarding One Rincon, I hope we will soon have that mystery solved as well.

I saw them setting-up that crane on Friday and was wondering why. Now I know. Another question though: why couldn't they use the tower crane?

...Faster load lift and placement operation, and better sway control at the lower levels? There are some other buildings nearby, they might not want to hit.

I'm pretty sure they were indeed installing glass in that manner due to awaiting the corner pieces. Mario and gang are quickly catching up on the backside now.

In the front, on the fifth floor they appear to have erected two stretches of brick wall that cover about half the vertical space at the western end of the floor. I'm really curious about the reason for those.

Yeah, I figured that was him. I have tried to include shots where he is present.

He should tell Mario that he is an internet celebrity...
