Philadelphia: Old City wandering and musings

So what happens on a sunny saturday when your bank account is dry and all that's interesting in your apartment is a couple AA batteries, my fuji camera and a Transpass? Why what you're about to see of course!

First, allow me to provide a soundtrack:

And now onto the pictures:

speaking of trans pass, they make it unbelievably hard for a tourist to buy that all day "independence pass".

The token booth clerk should be able to sell you one. Either that or the people at the windows in Subruban/Market East stations.

well for me one ticket booth clerk sent me to another clerk, who sent me to another clerk, who sent me to a regional rail clerk. Would it be too hard to have a machine to vend them?

Also, it took 4 trips for an operator to finally punch the card.

Also, also, you have the magnetic strips on the card, but they are useless.

Don't get me wrong, I had a great time in philly, but the fare system apparently could use some modernization.

They are spending over $100 million to do just that over the next 3 years.

Welcome to SEPTA!

They can't figure out how to sell tickets via machines but NJ Transit has them there.

You will get no argument from most Philadelphians. SEPTA has some good bones, but they always seem to take two steps back for every one step forward.
