Zig-zagging across South Melbourne

a few of the the 'burb I live in.

South Melbourne.

Mercedes, Maseratis, Vespas and Datto 120Ys. Victoriana playground for the wealthy arty farty wanky champagne-sipping artistic leftist elite and stopping place for those straight off the boat from a far off land. Fertile breeding ground for chic tracky dacks & cardigans, Telstra's exchange code for the suburb is SMEL, and big brother likes to watch TeleChoice Sales staff as they piss you off by ringing you at home after 5pm - but not before 9pm.

Sleepy most days of the week, loud one weekend in March. A pub on every corner - but what many don't know is that 3/4 of them are closed on Sundays, including a certain Nyoo Zuhlander pub that serves fentestuc Kiwi ales and has a roof top bar with bird's eye view of a car park...oh and the whole city Skyline.

The city's best fish and chips & Dim Sim's apparently, so much so The Fabulous Adam Richard's moving just down the street. Carlton Draught? Knappstein Reserve lager, Deuchars IPA & Monteith's Golden more like. Hellas anyone?

Looks like a really nice place there.

I'm disappointed though that even in Australia there are those overhead wires everywhere in the cities. Why can't they just be buried? Is it that hard? Looks terrible in my opinion!

Care to donate to the 30 odd+ billion dollar cause? In the inner city lines are slowly being buried (all telephony infrastructure is underground, but it's primarily electrical and pay TV infrastructure that is overhead) - take note of the pics around the market above, there's little or none.

I didn't even notice the wires until I saw them mentioned here in the comments.

Melbourne looks nice. One of these days I will visit. Without a doubt I will.
