Chinatown:boston

The following are pictures I took in Boston's Chinatown this Sunday afternoon. (plus a couple of other pics in Boston Harbor I took previously). I believe they are self-explanatory. If you need clarification on anything, let me know.

1.
I took the Orange Line T to the Chinatown Station:

These buildings are in the area between Downtown Crossing & Chinatown:

Great pics! A very interesting look at an interesting neighbourhood in an interesting city.
I used to go to Boston with my parents when I was a kid and I would love to go back and see it now.
Congrats on winning the Stanley Cup!

Nice thread! I like 16, 36, and 43 best. It used to be that we rarely saw Boston in this forum, I'm glad you have taken up photography.

Thanks again for this great thread from Boston, Expat!

As I always say, it´s a pleasure to watch your pictures from Boston, a really pretty city.

Chinatown there is nice. We didn´t visit it, so I´ve liked to watch your pictures.

Congratulations and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

I love Chinatowns. In my Vancouver and Montreal years, I would find myself in Chinatown at least a couple of times per month. Sometimes for food. Sometimes just to wander.

I found it a nice balance between grit and energy... similar to NYC's.

In any of the times I've been to Boston, I've never seen this area. Nice photos, thanks!

Back in the day, I had lunch here with a few Taiwanese-American friends and since I had never had specifically Taiwanese food before, I told them to "just get whatever you'd normally get and I'll eat it too." The waiter brings out a big bowl of snake's blood soup and another of chicken feet. Not wanting to be the Irish guy with the weak stomach, I dug right in to both (and as I feared, both were nasty as all hell - chicken feet are like jelly). After a few minutes I noticed no one else was eating, just watching me with suppressed laughter.

"Shawn, what are you doing man, enough already. We didn't think you'd actually it that shit, it's disgusting!"

Thanks for the pics, Expat!

^Ha! That's awesome. I was wondering about your story at first as the Taiwanese are very snobby when it comes to food. That snobbiness has resulted in Taiwan having some of the best food in East Asia.

Great tour, Expat.

i agree except Boston's Chinatown is very, very small but it is gritty, there's no doubt and everyone's Chinatown has loads of energy

i would think you havent because as i said above it is small and it's not really a sought out destination to go to in Boston even though it is so close to areas that are .

another outstanding job Expat!

^ It is tiny compared to SF and NYC for sure, but I think the neighborhood is larger than many people imagine. Officially, Chinatown extends all the way across the Pike to E. Berkeley St, including the Castle Square apartments which are largely Chinese occupied.

Of course, there's a lot of unused land in between, along with the massive Tufts medical complex, but all in all the community is about 6000 strong.
